Holy shit Toronto loaded up, RoR is a pain in the ass in the playoffs.
He's been terrible this year, but yeah will be bad for us. RoR and Acciari is going to cause fits. Although this seems like the Foligno trade all over again for Toronto.

Tampa, FL.
ROR is having a bad year, so I'm very glad Tampa didn't consider trying to overpay for him as a rental like Toronto just did. Acciari would've been fine, but neither puts them ahead of Tampa imo. Lafferty, Barbashev or Domi are the three I'm guessing Tampa is still strongly considering.

Really bad news on the Leaf deal, sucks

Why are the wild wasting cap space when they are in contention for a 4th?

Would be cool if they brought back old lightning 7th round pick Gerald Coleman to do a puck drop or something.

Some fans might remember him as a prospect playing for our AHL team in Springfield way back, or as a piece of the Shane O'Brien trade, but as short as his nhl career was, he actually has a piece of NHL history.

... Coleman entered the history books as the first participant of an NHL diversity program and the first United States-born Black goalie to play in the League.
He played on a AA travel team as a teenager and practiced with players from P.U.C.K. -- Positive Upliftment of Chicago Kids -- which was part of NHL Diversity, a forerunner of today's Hockey Is For Everyone Initiative.

Hockey Is For Everyone is a network of 26 independent non-profit youth hockey organizations in more than 40 locations across the United States and Canada that use the sport to improve the lives and communities of underrepresented, underserved and marginalized populations.

A little bit of a different story than say Kevin Weekes who also played for the Lightning, but is from Toronto. Would be nice to honor a former Lightning player here, especially those who newer fans may not be familiar with.

Only Acciari was likely a serious target, and if RoR was his usual self, maybe having him go to a division rival would seem more concerning. For now anyway, he's having one of his worst seasons ever, so we'll see how much help he provides. Toronto is much more all in than Tampa given their continued playoff failures, so giving up higher draft picks for rentals isn't surprising. I'm sure JBB has a move or two coming as well to shore up.q couple of spots.

I got to see Gerald win 2 Kelly Cups here. Thank you for posting this.

One of the saddest day of my life is when the Alaska Aces folded.

Foligno came from a Columbus team with barely any playoff experience, that was a weird target, RoR is a playoff monster. He'll benefit being on a deeper team though, if they just use him as a pure defensive specialist in a 3C role which looks like what will happen considering they have Matthews and Tavares already, there really isn't many better options than him in that regards - he's Cirelli on roids.

can’t say i’ve watched him play a game this year but i doubt he has just fallen off a cliff. we definitely need to do something but idk if we have the cap space to do anything actually impactful.

The thing for me is that RoR of the a few years ago is not the RoR of now. Maybe Toronto works for him, but I'm not sure. I think Acciari is going to be killer got them though.

He was a beast last playoffs as well, his production took a nose dive this season which could just be an off year.

Either way, Toronto is a better team today with those moves, lets see if it forces JBB's hands cause I'm not sure we're going to get away with rolling a bottom-6 that includes Names and PEB into the playoffs. They have 3 options for 4C and all of them are going to double/triple PEB's production.

Lol. I imagine JBB has to be thinking Toronto is the likely round one matchup and he would not want Tampa to lose (of course, at all..), but especially against Toronto. Gotta imagine Names, Foote, picks, Howard, etc are all in play for anything to bolster the bottom 6. Not only did they get ROR, they got Acciari too. Total pain in the ass. We need to inject a Goodrow/Coleman type into the lineup.

Hagel - Point - Kuch
Killorn - Cirelli - Stamkos
Names - Paul - Colton
Maroon - PEB - Perry

Not a good lineup against Matthews, Tavares and ROR down the middle. Somebody is getting their lunch fed and it's probably the 3rd line. Preferably Colton moves to the 4th line for PEB (Coop won't do it) and we get two third liners to play with Paul. At the very least, we need a huge get for the 3rd line. Someone with wheels and finish.

Paul should definitely play up with Killorn and Stamkos again, Paul gave Toronto fits last year and that's just a big line that's hard to defend, Killorn-Cirelli-Stamkos just don't have the ES production as a unit. I agree, we get 2 3rd line wingers as the targets, they don't even need finish, good skating hard to play against players and roll them with Cirelli, bump Colton down to 4C.

In the games I've seen with RoR this season, he can barely skate, really painful to watch. Not that his skating used to be a strength but for whatever reason (health/foot issues probably) it's fallen down the cliff this season.

With that said, if he finds himself and they use him in a more limited role, then it can still be a good trade for them. Plus Acciardi is a decent depth player for them.

Interesting case in Toronto. They’re desperate and especially their GM for whom another first round exit would more than likely mean “adios amigo”. This move makes them a lot deeper up front and down the middle obviously. But from reading their boards a bit their main concern was and remains defensive depth. What else can they give up to improve there?

What’s odd in this trade is Minny. They help a divisional rival in St. Louis and take on cap hit for Toronto while they themselves should be looking to improve in order to maintain a playoff berth and go deeper than round 1.

Let’s see what JBB can pull out of his hat. Toronto gets stronger with this trade and last we’ve seen them it was a pretty even matchup to be fair.

Acciari is a -3 blessing in disguise. Guy gave up a goal almost every time he saw the ice against the Lightning last year in the playoffs. The last two years against the Lightning in the playoffs, he's been on the ice for one goal. Maroon and Colton absolutely abused him.

I mean Minesota isn’t really helping STL beyond this season. They are not a threat in the standings so why not get a pick for it. If it helps STL , who cares. They are irrelevant this year. Might as well get the pick

Guess we’ll take Kane at 25%

Kane - Point - Kuch
Hagel - Cirelli - Stamkos
Killorn - Paul - Colton
Maroon - names - Perry
