My assessment thus far

Levi Has made the saves you would expect him to make, yet to face real challenge

Gauthier N/a

Garand N/a
Schneider Physical player, a bit loose with the puck and runs around a bit

Korczak efficient pick mover

Byram 200 foot stud

Harley well positioned, good zone exits

Drysdale See Byram

Spence 8th defenseman, decent offensive blue line presence

Guhle Mean, moves well, offensively limited

Barron Physical player, well positioned

Dach RIP

Zary Decent tournament, good vision

Holloway Beefcake, physical presence

Perfetti looks out of his depth. Poor skater

Pelletier hard working player, lacks finish

Newhook good 200ft player, strong on puck

Suzuki lacks intensity in puck battles

McMichael All over it, unlucky thus far

Krebs apart from Cozens, Canada’s best forward. Cirelli 2.0

Byfield when the going gets tough the tough get going, not the case here

Mercer decent on forecheck, backchecks well, hard in puck battles

Cozens 200 ft stud

Tomasino good finisher, bit of a liability elsewhere (own zone)

Quinn clearly missing Marco Rossi, looks lost
What? Krebs has missed a ton of nice chances set up by his linemates and killed a lot of offensive plays. I've liked his defensive zone play but offensively he's brought down every line he's been on.

McMichael needs to stop throwing the puck away. Similar to Krebs, I've liked his game up to the offensive blue line.

A lot of people assess players purely on how busy they look (not just you, this whole thread is full of it). It's the same reason people gush over Byram overhandling the puck and skating straight at a teammate instead of passing the puck to him.

If Askirov gets dialed in, Canada want's to be able to finish. The 1'st round draft pick (Nash) has played 376 min (7 starts) with St. Petersburg and has a 0.96 GAA, 0.962 save pct.
Need lots of sustained O zone pressure and lot's of net front presence!
Well that's the problem, a stellar or even just good Askarov and I can see this team going out rather unceremoniously tomorrow, we just haven't really been all that great offensively. We need to start cashing in at a better rate, I don't see that many good finishers on this team however, well, they aren't showing it here so far anyway.

Haven't seen much out of Quinn, and am thinking that Rees deserved to be on the team over him.

Harley has disappointed me, though i have high expectations of him. Is slow to move the puck.

Pelletier can play on my team anyday. didn't know much about him before, but the coaching staff made the right decision picking him.

Barron makes me nervous.

Suzuki is a non factor, but not bad.

About time Byfield shows us something, even if it's as a dominant forechecker.

Would hope that Newhook can play...i think he can be a difference maker.

I think Rees would have been a good fit for the down low play and hunting pucks around the net

No more looping flyby stick checks either. We’ve been good playing the proper Canadian style of heavy forecheck for the most part but reverted back that lazy habit for a bit last game. Make them pay with pressure everytime they even think about touching the puck in their own zone.

The forecheck should be very important. It dominated for most of the game vs Finland, and both the American and the Russian defences look quite flappable. If Canada plays aggressively I like its odds against any team remaining, but play the way it has these last two games and it's a crapshoot.

Behold Jamie Drysdale one of the leaders in controlled exits per 60 and controlled exit %.. This kid is impressive.
There was a poster on the game thread last night that said something to the effect that we do not miss Alex Newhook.. Yah Right.

Tableau Public

There's also some public manually tracked Microstats. Only 3 of the 5 games have been tracked but the idea that Quinn has been an offensive blackhole is backed up by it. Suzuki doesn't look great either. I think Mercer-Tomasino has been really good but I think they'd be more effective with a different center.

Sabres fan reading this, but then remembering that their other top prospect is destroying the tournament.

You must not watch Quinn in his own zone.
