Quinn has looked out of place the whole tournament imo... He has made a couple good defensive plays but his puck management hasn't been good.. and I am not sure if he has won a board battle.

This. And it's easy to see as well, which makes it an even bigger joke that Tourigny started him with Dach and Cozens.

He's justifiably worked his way down the lineup to the 13th forward, as he should be.

He has? How can you say that as fact following a game where they just iced 12 forwards and Quinn had a regular shift?

Going to have to be tighter against Russia Monday. The defense after Byram-Drysdale weren't particularly good today. As good as Cozens has been I'd rather see us roll 4 lines rather than force feeding the top 6 all the prime icetime. Hard for young players to get into a game getting 11 minutes.

My assessment thus far

Levi Has made the saves you would expect him to make, yet to face real challenge

Gauthier N/a

Garand N/a
Schneider Physical player, a bit loose with the puck and runs around a bit

Korczak efficient pick mover

Byram 200 foot stud

Harley well positioned, good zone exits

Drysdale See Byram

Spence 8th defenseman, decent offensive blue line presence

Guhle Mean, moves well, offensively limited

Barron Physical player, well positioned

Dach RIP

Zary Decent tournament, good vision

Holloway Beefcake, physical presence

Perfetti looks out of his depth. Poor skater

Pelletier hard working player, lacks finish

Newhook good 200ft player, strong on puck

Suzuki lacks intensity in puck battles

McMichael All over it, unlucky thus far

Krebs apart from Cozens, Canada’s best forward. Cirelli 2.0

Byfield when the going gets tough the tough get going, not the case here

Mercer decent on forecheck, backchecks well, hard in puck battles

Cozens 200 ft stud

Tomasino good finisher, bit of a liability elsewhere (own zone)

Quinn clearly missing Marco Rossi, looks lost

About time Mercer moved up the lineup, lets see if it sticks.

He will be back with Byfield if Newhook can play. Tourigny is lucky this team is so strong otherwise.

Quinn has certainly been a disappointment offensively, but he didn’t play with Rossi at even strength in Ottawa.

Haven't seen much out of Quinn, and am thinking that Rees deserved to be on the team over him.

Harley has disappointed me, though i have high expectations of him. Is slow to move the puck.

Pelletier can play on my team anyday. didn't know much about him before, but the coaching staff made the right decision picking him.

Barron makes me nervous.

Suzuki is a non factor, but not bad.

About time Byfield shows us something, even if it's as a dominant forechecker.

Would hope that Newhook can play...i think he can be a difference maker.

With Barron you can both see he is talented and that he didn't play a lot in the last two seasons. Seems jittery and tenative at times. Got caught puck watching one time last game as well.

He also was pinching in the last three minutes when they were up by two...why?

Lazy effort in a lot of areas yesterday, our finishing is still not good, constantly dinging it off the post or fanning, missing the net. It will cost us from here on in if we don't start turning that around.

No more looping flyby stick checks either. We’ve been good playing the proper Canadian style of heavy forecheck for the most part but reverted back that lazy habit for a bit last game. Make them pay with pressure everytime they even think about touching the puck in their own zone.

I have no idea. It could be that Touringy told him to push the envelope like he did with Byram. I know he likes his defensemen to activate and take chances, he was like that when he coached Colorado. It was him who coached Holden and he had him dropping down in the offensive zone and pinching like crazy. Barron actually reminds me of him in that aspect.

We don’t have a lot of offensive creativity up front.

I have heard this comment year after year.
What we have that most if not all countries do not have is a fairly balanced 4 line attack with solid defence.
This is where we get a big edge.
To me the big difference is our PP is not really clicking/ we really have not faced true adversity but tongue in cheek we supposedly faced it during the Czech and Slovak game.
I wouldn’t mind having Newhook back
These are the horses we got and everyone should be ready. After all it is the Russians. can’t wait.

If Askirov gets dialed in, Canada want's to be able to finish. The 1'st round draft pick (Nash) has played 376 min (7 starts) with St. Petersburg and has a 0.96 GAA, 0.962 save pct.
Need lots of sustained O zone pressure and lot's of net front presence!
