Why couldn’t they review it to get the time to a thousands of a second like in speed skating?
When you are talking about taking a total of 4 runs to go along with the fact they are travelling over 130km an hour there is to much variance for it to even be worth them spending the amount of money on camera's even capable of tracking that.

Honestly not sure why Humphries is in 5th. George got her off to a solid start and she wound up having one of the cleanest runs. Meanwhile the Germans ****ed up several times and did nothing but gain speed. Must have something to do with the difference in equipment.

Luckily she's barely behind third place, but it sucks that she's mostly losing because of technology instead of actual skill.

I heard that Germans equipment engineering is on another compared to rest of the field.

That was a hot topic some years ago, but it's rarely mentioned these days. Of course we wouldn't know because the bob is a state secret. But in reality, they are just heavier

Does that mean Kripps was just that damn good? ;)

So after watching the women's bobsleigh, it appears that banging against the walls makes the sled go faster.

The german commentators mentioned this. Hitting the wall can be better when you have to put in too much of an effort to avoid it .

Humphries on the podium!

Unfortunately gold looks unlikely, but medaling at three consecutive Olympics is pretty good.

Schneider was supposed to be stronger

They even changed up Jamankas co-pilot prior to the Olympics to give Schneider the faster starts to ensure better Gold chances for Schneider. Turns out the "B-Team" had a different idea.

So if Kallie (YAY bronze, by the way) was driving the best and Upperton was saying it was equipment problems.... the hell? what happened to it?

Wouldn't take much. If the final times are only separated by 1-2 seconds, that equates to tenths of a second loss in each run, which could be from something as simple as a weight imbalance.

The fact that she gained two spots after the first two runs indicates they did try to fix whatever the problem was, but by then it was too much of a gap to catch the top ranked Germans.

Might be my fav moment of th Olympics ... the B-Team wins ... leading in in the final run, yet never won a regular season race before ... two of the other contenders are are Olympic champions or world champions .. the other contestents are the the prefered internals favs ... and the pilot hasn't mastered the sport 4 years ago. Brilliant stuff. The American team lead so easily after their athletic start but lost to (maybe) inferior material and (way more) to superior piloting. Jamanka's run looked so much smoother than the others - with sdo much less bumbs at the critical spots - you just have to be happy for her to win gold.
Just as a side not, being German it's not your 1st priority of observation, but the podium looked quite colered for for a "white sport" like Bob sled. ... 6 out of 8 women in beautyfull shades and two of them were the actual pilot/leader. Now if you wanna promote progress ... there it is!

Canada 1 in 5th after run 1, but set a Start record for the event so far so hopefully that continues to help them climb up the list onto the podium. Run 2 coming up in about 20 minutes.
