These are all the UFA's that scored 20+ goals last year:

1. John Tavares New York Islanders UFA 27 C Left 81 36 47 83
2. James van Riemsdyk Toronto Maple Leafs UFA 29 LW Left 80 36 18 54
3. Evander Kane San Jose Sharks UFA 26 LW Left 77 29 25 54
4. Michael Grabner New Jersey Devils UFA 30 RW, LW Left 79 27 9 36
5. James Neal Vegas Golden Knights UFA 30 LW, RW Left 70 25 19 44
6. Thomas Vanek Columbus Blue Jackets UFA 34 LW, RW Right 79 24 32 56
7. Rick Nash Boston Bruins UFA 33 LW, RW Left 71 21 13 34
Why have we never gone after Vanek. Guy is always on the market it seems.

A Voynov return means you could explore moving Muzzin and or Martinez. You could also explore moving Toffoli depending on who you got for either Defenseman.
Looking at the Kings cap situation, they only have about 4M in space with a 20 man roster. So if they brought in Voynov, I'm assuming they'd have to move someone to make room.

I'd wish for Tavares but would be happy with signing Neal or Kovy.

Consistently, or just this past season?
Vanek has outproduced Pearson since he joined the NHL, outproduced Toffoli the past two years, basically outproduced Brown his entire career besides this season, and put up significantly more points than Kempe this season. Not to mention he didn't go 30+ games without a goal like Kempe did this year.

Ever wonder though why teams cant wait to get rid of him despite his production?

Well seeing how he signs 1 year deals to teams that finish out of the playoffs most of the time (Detroit, Vancouver, etc.) He's dealt by the deadline and then signed to more 1 year deals.

I'm just pointing out facts that he's outproduced our "young core" that should be in the prime scoring years of there careers.

I certainly appears that way. No way the Kings would go with a 20-man roster.

The kings don't need to move anyone for cap space right now unless the goal is to sign a top tier UFA.

The kings have about $4.25 million for 3 players but the cap is expected to go up to $78-$82 million. With the expection of a partial escalator then around $80 million is probable. That's $9+ million for 3 spots.

Then prior to Doughty's 1st year on his new contract we have another cap increase, Greene's BO cap hit comes off, and Thompson is a UFA so his cap hit is off (replace with $1 million player so we have another $650k). So we need to save $2 million of that $9 million for Doughty.

That leaves $7 million for 3 spots just looking at next year. We can sign a mid tier $4-$5 million UFA without trading anyone. If we do that then one of Phaneuf/Muzzin/Martinez will probably have to go for space in 2019-2020.

Thanks for the info. Sadly, the Kings are dead last in CAP space going into the off-season, and that's before a Rieder QO and before the CAP rises to an unknown amount. The Kings have no money.

And they want to bring in Voynov. I wonder what his contract would be like. Capgeek shows his old contract extends to the 18/19 season with a cap hit of 4.17M.

Reider isn't coming back at his QO. He'll sign for less or move on. They're going to have to move say a guy making at least 4 million to potentially bring in Voynov. So Martinez, Phaneuf, Muzzin, Carter, Brown etc etc. Or move out a bunch of guys make less than that, like Thompson, Lewis, Clifford. It's why moving a Carter makes a lot of sense. You need cap room to improve the roster and he's by far the highest value tradable asset.

The thing with Carter is that now to get full value, you need to let him play. I’d trade him in season to get better value, which no matter what some of you think... is still a top prospect, a good young player and a 1st... he’s a better player than both E.Kane and Max PAC with term on his contract at a bargain rate!
Heck, I’d do Carter for Skinner and Bean
