He had the only assist as a dman in the only goal scored by Canada. He had very few lapses and if he had been on the PP or PK maybe the game would have been closer.

He won't and shouldn't make the team, we don't need another offensive defenseman, we have tonnes...

Not very good. He looks very scrambly in his own end, I counted 3 desperation plays that you would expect a defensmen with his skill not to need to exhibit.

To be fair all our defenceman looked poor today. Nurse needed to step it up for sure but so did the others.

From the stands I didn't even notice severson or morrisey. dumba played well, nurse was OK but not his best, matheson was good, dont think he makes the team though. pouliot was ok. i think sutter just sat monahan and mcdavid to get a look at other players, although domi played whole game.

I think today you and i were watching different games, or perhaps we were just focusing on different players lol. I mostly watched the game to see Nurse play, and was paying attention to all of his shifts specifically. I am not a huge fan of Dumba, but i thought they made a good pair.

Nurse was solid today, and the only time he was "scrambly" that i noticed was on one play where he relentlessly chased a guy around the back of the net when he probably didn't need too since Dumba was over there, however he forced a turnover so it ended up being a good play.

Offensively he is not getting any PP time, and seemed to be starting in the D zone a lot. He still ended up with 3 shots by my count, which isn't bad for a defensive D.

I don't know if anyone noticed either, but Nurse was on the ice for like 6 of the USA team's penalties, and directly drew 2 of them. You could argue that he set up the one interference call too by delaying the pass for a second until the other guy intercepted the player ahead of the pass.

He was on the ice for both 5 on 3 goals, but you can't really fault a guy for getting beat on either play, as he let Patterson see the shot both times and he couldn't stop a beachball today. He did make a few desperation plays there though for sure, but it was 5 on 3 so again tough to blame the kid.

To me the most disappointing thing was everyone on the power play, they had 9 chances, 0 goals.... I really hope they take a look at this.

Like last year (Gaudreau) and now this year (Gillies and Sieloff) team USA are making it hard for me not to cheer for them.

Ekblad's inclusion will be interesting. Depending on the way his season goes and the progress he shows, it might still come down to the fact who's in the NHL next year and who isn't. And the thing with him is, there's also a probability he's in the NHL after he's drafted so this might be only Junior tournament he'll have a chance to play.

Id put ekblad on the same level as nurse right now and am more confident of his shutdown D than of nurses. wouldnt mind seeing him on the team

Best case scenario for dmen IMO.

Rielly - Reinhart
Nurse - Ekblad
Finn - Dumba
Pouliot/Severson

Canada has lacked DFD for the past few years.
