For the record, the Marlies finally won a game and stopped their worst ever losing streak at 9.

Brown was first star and finished with 1 goal and 1 assist. He's up to 14 points in 20 games as a pro rookie, which is really good.

Marlies got all three stars even though they were out shot and out played most of the game by a highly skilled Grand Rapids. Gibson should have gotten all three stars he won the game for them period. Henny must have been picking the stars.

Devane can barely play at the AHL level. The idea that he can be a contributor on a Stanley Cup winning team is non-sense. Jordan Nolan is 3 times the player he is and his role on the Kings was a minor one. Players that can play hockey and are also tough is the new wave of the NHL. Not pure enforcers/fighters. Those days are long gone.

Broll will end up the same I'm afraid.

Basically like the Habs. Its amazing how terrible they are when Price and Tokarski aren't saving them

Just want to say this one more time.

No one is disappointed in Gauthier defensively, defensive bottom 6 role players are easier to come by in the summer. Ie. Mcclement, Winnik.

What is worrisome is he has flatlined offensively since he was drafted. Never more than 60 points. This is where the dissppointment is. Some of us hoped he would develop into a 2 way #2C.

This is the minimum you hope for when you make a first rd pick. Not a highside 3rd or more likely 4th line defensive specialist.

Do you ever even read my arguments? I'm starting to think you don't.

Read the whole post man. Just do it. It gives some fairly significant context to why Gauthier has flatlines (and again for the 50th time, I state that I am dissapointed in his flatlining but not overly worried).

And again, for the 50th time, it hardly means anything. I've given multiple examples of people who were under you arbitrary line of production who played higher than 4th line roles. It's not my problem you continue to ignore them.

I don't think you understand what Outlier is when I mention this, and yes I read your post. No one is disappointed in Gauthier's defence, it's his production which you state are too. So unless you were always happy drafting a player that we can sign in the summer like Winnik or Mcclement. You must be more disappointed than you are letting on. But I will take your word for it, if you say you are not worriers at all.

weak drafts and low picks

Dont mix. That year we all knew our odds of getting a gamebreaker there were low. Nylander makes up for that.

You still gotta aim for the BPA everytime you're picking. The Leafs' scouting staff may have had their reasons for thinking that size, skating, good defense and modest points production would help Gauthier become an NHLer. What I'm baffled about is using prior players' production to justify whether or not Gauthier will become an NHLer: its almost like teams' depth charts, each individual player's skills and mental make-up don't make a difference in whether or not they become NHL players. Remember how happy we were about DiDomenico's production?

It's not just using it to make some argument that he won't make it, but it's this asinine ignorance of everything but the points to make the argument. Even the context to the points.

And again I really don't think you did...

Do you have a response to context? The context of being Staaled into a 2c position on a potential Memorial Cup contender? Which when taken into account that it's incredibly rare to have 2 centers in teh Q who have PPG play or better?

Or are you just going to keep posting "McClement" with little proof to the argument outside pure PPG (which you still haven't answered the question of why you're harping on this so much when you are among the biggest posters of "there's more to hockey than points"). Which explains all of nothing.

Don't know what to tell you. I don't think you understand why posters are disappointed if you read the replies in this thread.

As for Staaled, Pitt had 2 superstar Centers playing in front of him. That's true context.

Yeah, it's disappointing that one of my favourite threads for many years has become 95 % Gauthier discussion now and I have to read through all this bla bla bla to find the interesting posts. Why does Nylander has his own thread?

Question is, why does not Nylander have his own forum?

Better question: Is Nylander better at defence than Bozak and/or kadri? I've already seen the comparison posts. By next year it will be:

Bozak vs Nylander vs Kadri vs Holland

Fan debates will rage on for eons.

lol welcome to leafsland where you can only have one piece of gold and not two because one may be goldier than the other....

Don't really watch AHL, but from my understanding, Brown's been quite good at adapting to the pro game?

15 points in 21 games is pretty good for a rookie and on a team that is struggling to score goals. He is leading the team in points and shots on goal so I would say he is having a really good season.

5 goals, 10 assists in 21 games to start his pro career .. For a supposed "small skilled forward" I'd say he's adapted pretty well so far

Leivo, Carrick, Biggs, Knodel all had assists tonight .. Despite the Marlies slow start with Frattina and Leivo back down there hopefully that kickstarts the offense ... Marlies are a young team, would been encouraging to see the prospects start to figure things out as the season progresses and finish strong

Knodel playing much?

I was told that he was going to be an ECHL'er at best earlier this year...
