Not if Havlat isn't going to be playing. We could roll Marleau-Couture-Wellwood. We could also throw Brunner on a line w/ Jumbo/Burns if Hertl could use some seasoning in the AHL...
Again, where are you going to come up with the contract slots?

Sorry if you misunderstood, but I was assuming Havlat would not be playing in SJ at all and would be on LTIR...

The chances of havlat missing all 82 games of the season is all but impossible. And even if he plays only 1 game all season long that would be way way to many under your roster.

The team cannot take on any extra money and hope and pray that havlat never plays a game. And this does nor even take into account that a healthy havlat is more important to the team then both of wellwood and brunner combined.

Brunner and wellwood makes the depth better thats it thats all, they do not help the top 6 in any shape or form.

Havlat helps the top 6 and also helps the depth of the team. Havlat healthy bumps kennedy/wingels/torres back into the bottom 9, while also bumping a player like burish back to the 4th line.

Sharks are at 48 right now, no? Brunner and Wellwood would put them at the 50 limit. Not that I support that roster or anything.
My mistake. I did a miscount on capgeek. I thought that they were at 49 without Petrecki. They are at 48 without Petrecki. My assumption is that Petrecki will be signed leaving them with one slot by my corrected count.

I don't like going to the season at 50. Probably the same for you. It puts a crimp on imbalanced trades and closes the possibility of signing high end undrafted in March and April. Going to 50 is not a good MO and can cost in assets (draft picks) to address the issue.

Forgot who mentioned it, but someone said edmonton may have actual interest in Burish (he is a veteren 4th line PK specialist who has better name recognition than actual skill).

Anyone think it would be a reasonable thing to discuss with them? (say Burish for Joensuu or the injured curtis hamilton)?

A poster or someone who might actually know something?

Cant remember who, but think it was one of our fans, not theirs. So likely no inside info as to their needs. Burish would be good lockerroom vet for their 4th line. Probably help their PK (but is too damn expensive for what he brings). If they had any interest, we should be all over them. Burish + pick for any forward less than a million would fix a lot of our cap concerns. (know not NEED to, but would like the added flexibility).

I was thinking it dont know if I actually mentioned it. If we could give him and a 4th for future considerations I'd be thrilled.

I expect he is here for 2 more full seasons.

To the Canes:

To Sharks:

:naughty::naughty::naughty:

Rid ourselves of Burish, Demers gets a shot at being a PMD the Canes are looking for. We free up cap space and 2 contract slots.. Win win in my book

I would rather that trade to the oilers.

every one here also thought handzus and his 2.5 million contract was untradeable even if it was just the remaining 4 months left on the contract.

It wasn't tradeable until there was one month left. That's not a very good argument here.

Like what you came up with. You should try that on the Defenseman to Carolina thread.
