Why mess with Boosh's development when Patty is about to come back?

I'm for them both being in the lineup. Boucher has 142 career AHL games, I don't think him development path will change much from playing more AHL games. I'm actually fine with demoting the entire 3rd line and giving another group a shot. The

Cammy - Henrique - Stemp
Kalinin - Zajac - Palmeiri
Boucher - Elias - Kennedy
Tootoo - Josefson - Farnham

Part of me would rather give Boucher a shot at some point significantly before the ending of the AHL season.

That way if he looks invisible at the NHL level again, he could go back to the AHL for more work.

Rather than be thrown into the NHL when it becomes his only remaining option.

4th line is doing its job honestly. They pretty much are there to not mess up, eat some minutes, and occasionally score.

They have been doing that. So as much as people like to rag on Oneil and Gio. They aren't the problem.

Problem is Tlusty-JJ-Tootoo. 3rd line is expected to score more and they are not scoring period.

JJ is actually the best of the three because he is actually making some plays and getting pucks on net. He just can't score.

Tootoo is not playing well and Tlusty is extremely invisible as well.

I think the problem is that JJ and Tootoo don't belong on the 3rd line. They really have no business there. They should be on the 4th line. That would effectively waive or scratch O'Neill.

Tlusty could be a 3rd liner, he hasn't played like one for much of the last 40 games though.

That's what happens after back to back losses to the teams that were the worst.:sarcasm:

LOL fair point, well I still have faith we can get back to winning when we get back in the eastern time zone.

...But they can leave Tlusty in Canada.

I'm starting to get sick of Tlusty more than Josefson and Tootoo playing on the 3rd line. The sad part is that I'm not sure if Tyler Kennedy could have more than 3 points in 15 games. I wanna say that he could, but who the hell knows? I never envisioned Tlusty being this bad.

Hopefully we can pull one out in Vancouver, it will be their second night in a row of playing. They got Chicago tonight before us on Sunday.

Vancouver also hasn't won a game since the 2nd of this month, 3 weeks ago.:shakehead

Emperoreddy, I have got to agree with Bleedred. Although JJ and Tootoo aren't showing that they are worthy 3rd liners at the moment, they still hold more value in the lineup than Gionta and O'Neill.

JJ can PK and is actually providing value to the team as a shootout specialist. He has to stay in the lineup. Demote him to the 4th line so that there are little to none offensive expectation.

I'll keep Tootoo ahead of O'Neill because he is gritty and can spark a team with an occasional fight. He has also scored more than O'Neill thus far, although having power play time helps.

Therefore, if we agree that JJ and Tootoo should slide down then, there are two 3rd line spots open. Elias takes one when he is healthy again. He will probably eventually end up taking the 2nd line role filled by Kalinin who can then center the 3rd line.

The 2nd spot on the 3rd line, Hynes has to do something different. I don't think signing Tyler Kennedy is the answer. I think the options are as follows:

1. Promote Farnham to 3rd line (Regarding the 4th line occasionally scoring, it is only one person at the moment, and that is Farnham) and play Stefan Matteau on 4th line.
2. Recall Boucher or Blandisi.
3. Leave the spot empty and play Gelinas as a 7th dman.
4. Fill the spot via trade (Gelinas and Matteau is the obvious trade bait).

Regarding the play of Jiri Tlusty. I think he gets a little more rope than a Gionta or O'Neill. He has past history he can be an effective 2nd/3rd line tweener. Maybe countryman Elias can jump start his play.

But we should trade Schneider because Kinky is a number 1 goalie in the league. Im all for Letting Kinky play because i believe he can be a great backup.

He hasn't been good enough to cover up for shoddy defense this year, like the atrocious team defense that was played tonight.

He seems to have regressed since last season and while it's only 4 games, 4 games is almost a quarter of Kinkaid's career starts in the NHL.

His puck handling has looked shoddy too in the last 2 games, it just hasn't burned us like Cory did the other night.

You lost me at the Farnham to the 3rd line part, even though I know it was only an option.

I think it's a matter of time before Farnham doesn't provide any offense at all and people here don't want him in the lineup nightly. I'd rather just sign Kennedy. If we're healthy, Farnham is probably an extra forward in my mind.

Gionta with Josefson and Tootoo should probably be the 4th line in my mind.

Don't want Elias playing center anymore. Especially not right out of the gate.

At this point in his career I think the wing will be where he can do the most for us.

I don't either, but I'd like to have a third line that is actually worth a damn, and as long as the blackhole known as Jacob Josefson is centering that line it's basically going to be a waste. Boucher needs somebody who can set him up, and Elias is probably the best option. Unless we just leave Boucher down in Albany the rest of the year, which I guess wouldn't be the worst thing either.

After doing a lot of thinking, Elias or Kennedy playing center wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

Either one of them, or Josefson centering a third line is the reality of things.

Or Kalinin too, I'm not yet sold on Kalinin being better than a 4th liner. He's gotta do better than 4 points in 18 games.

Either way, we can't have both Josefson and Kalinin being in the top 9.

Of course this all assumes that Elias can still be effective when he comes back. His age + knee issues aren't a very good combination. Hopefully he's still got the hands to create some offense.

After the second goal due to brutal defense, I knew they weren't winning this game. I hope it's a wake up call for Hynes. Didn't like this lineup going into the game. I thought he was trying to create competition and keep players on their toes. At least we're back in the Matthews hunt.

They weren't winning this game if they had Lundqvist in net. They weren't mentally in the game and the coaching was terribad tonight. WTF was the D coverage and the 5-3 PP was a disaster.

Kinkaid needs starts. You can't run Cory into the ground, he's not Marty. And even so, Marty needed rest. If you leave him on the bench, he's going to be rusty.

The panicking on this board is outta control. This wasn't a playoff team and the wheels may be coming off. It was fun for a while. We know half these guys belong on either a 3rd line or in the AHL.

Let's see what they're made of when they get on the next homestand.

This! Thinking this was an easy win was ridiculous. The oilers talent in comparison with ours makes me sick...even without McDavid.

Josefson is also having scoring troubles in other areas of his life apparently :sarcasm:

“I tried to get it up. I couldn't get it up,” Josefson said. “Unfortunately, he got his pad on it.”

I'm getting aroused over a Kennedy signing at this point.

At least he's a 3rd liner, don't ever wanna hear about Josefson being a third liner again or comparing him to Pandolfo and how Jay played on our 3rd line and wasn't even a 30 point player.

Jay Pandolfo always had over 20 points in a full season. 10 points in 61 games in 09-10 for Pandolfo is lower than what Josefson is on pace for, as our the last few seasons Pandolfo spent in the league with the Islanders and Bruins.

But Pandolfo was washed up and finished at that time. Josefson is on pace for 17 points this year, none at even strength. Tootoo is on pace for a whopping 13 points this season, none at even strength. Playing on the PP and 3rd line. Kalinin is on pace for 18 points, playing mostly in the top 9 so far.

These are not acceptable point totals for a 3rd liner, they're really good point totals for 4th liners.

Tlusty on pace for FIFTEEN points playing in the top 6 on most nights so far! Has 11 points in his last 40 games, including last year's playoffs. 2 goals in that span.

Defensive defenseman David Schlemko has more goals than Josefson and Tlusty, and as many as Tootoo and Kalinin.

Remember when Josefson was playing on the first line last season, same as Tootoo?

Last night was one of those games where nobody will ever notice how good Merrill was. How could you in that debacle? But he consistently got the puck out of his own zone, made the right play and was very strong on the boards all night. He played a very strong game and he really has been the whole month of November.
