Amazed at how many have Latendresse as a yes. This guy would be great if the NHL were played in slow motion. Other than that I agree with the consensus picks here.

This thread is just a constant reminder that Matt Kassian is not one of the names on these lists.

Really hope we don't play him a lot next year, we've got 20 more useful forwards in the system.

Caporusso and Regin are the only two I expect gone unless there's a trade or if any of the Benoits and Jessimans decide they can do better elsewhere.

We only get 50 pro contracts.

Who gets left out to keep Cowick in Bingo? 4 years ago "keeping Cowick" is a no-brainer. Right now though, with our depth, he's on the fringe. Maybe he can sign an AHL-only deal that keeps him on the Baby-Sens while not contributing to our pro-contract limit?

I'm all for exploring ways to keep Cowick here. I just don't think it's gong to be as easy as you think.

as much as i like da costa, i pretty much want to sign him so we can trade him. benoit is someone who will only be signed for one year, or two max, and will most likely leave for greener pastures, making one of gryba or boro our extra defenseman and us having one less contract.

when i say sign, i mean try to sign in any way possible, including ahl contracts. if we give lawson a big ahl contract, he might sign it, leaving a spot open on the nhl contracts. next year we have a couple of ahl veterans coming off the books, as well as kassian and some low end prospects, so we can be tight this year as long as there aren't people we want to sign. if there are, there are ways we can accommodate. next year we should have some open spots.

I could care less about the other scrubs mentioned.

EDIT: Ok, I guess Alfie can stay... if he wants. Short leash though.

Alfredsson - obvious yes if not retiring.
Latendresse - no, have other options to pursue for ufa or within system.
Regin - unfortunately no, I like the guy but he's going to be a contract numbers victim
Gonchar - for a single season, sure but I bet he signs with someone who gives him a two year deal
Lundin - no
Benoit - maybe if we don't get Gonchar or an equivalent to Gonchar
Jessiman - no
Lawson - I don't know how he's been in the AHL, but if he has a shot at being a solid backup we should retain him for injury coverage.

RFAs
Condra - yes
Hoffman - yes
Wiercioch - yes
Da Costa - maybe
Cowick - no
Borowiecki - maybe
Dziurzynski - no
Caporusso - no.

I'm surprised by the amount of people saying no to Dziurzynski and Cowick. I think they are an important part of the Bingo team. They play their respective bottom 6 roles effectively. Not sure if they have any NHL future, but are real good AHL players.

UFAs:
Alfredsson -- Yes, his choice though
Latendresse -- bubble, they may do better through free agency
Regin - No
Gonchar - No
Lundin - No
Benoit - No, I would rather have Borocop play as the 7th D
Jessiman - Yes, could help Bingo again
Lawson - No, we signed Hammond & he needs to play

RFAs:
Condra - while I think they will re-sign him, my guess is he will get replaced eventually
Hoffman - Yes, could be trade bait
Wiercioch - Yes, I believe he has earned an NHL contract
Da Costa - Yes, could also be trade bait
Cowick - Yes, has really stepped up this season
Borowiecki - Yes, will be a valuable depth guy
Dziurzynski - Yes, has bottom six potential
Caporusso - No

Others:
JOB - having been a healthy scratch more often than not, could he be traded in the off season?
Petersson - will he return for another season or go back to Sweden?
Cannone - is there room on the roster for him next yr in Bingo?
Hamilton - same is Cannone?
Kramer - same as Hamilton
New - can he hold off all the defencemen that will be coming next yr?
Chevrie - do they keep him or go find a veteran to play with Hammond?

The planking of Latendresse tonight tells you a great deal. A critical game down the stretch, and Guimauve gets sat for a 4th line tough guy. Ouch.

I just can't see Latendresse being in the team's plans for next season. His style just doesn't fit the Paul Maclean up tempo style. Mac likes the 200 foot game, with players like Zibanejad as his poster boy. If ever there was a guy who isn't suited to a fast, 200 foot game, it's Guimauve. At this stage of his career, he is who he is, so any notion of sending him to power skating or to have Tony Greco feed him seaweed salad all summer isn't really an option. It was worth a shot to sign him to a relatively cheap one year deal, but going forward he is just taking ice time away from the young prospects.

Like I said previously, Latendresse doesn't fit the mold of Maclean's team. He's slow and can't carry the puck, two things which are counter-intuitive to the way we play.

Good for you to mention these guys. Have to agree.

We need to clear out some contracts and even some bodies so the prospects don't stagnate.

The only RFA that the Senators may actually let walk this off season is Caporusso. All the other RFA's either add value to this organization or have at least some trade value. If they aren't planning on retaining any of the other RFA's then they will ship them out for at the very least a pick.

Tomas Holmstrom would actually go to the dirty areas and was PP machine

I dont expect Latendresse to be as good as Holmstrom but Latendresse goes to the dirty areas every shift and has the ability to play a same role on the PP, just not as good.
