Drew MacIntyre (UFA)
Garret Sparks
Mark Owuya (RFA)
I believe Rynnas is walking this summer. Going back overseas. Ideally, I think you have MacIntyre and Owyua as your Marlies goalies. Sparks would be better served in a starters role in the ECHL I think. Give him minutes and go with a solid duo at the AHL level. MacIntyre needs a contract, but sure as hell earned one from the Leafs.
Jesse Blacker,
Pettr Granberg,
Stuart Percy,
Andrew MacWilliam,
Kevin Marshall,
I think Kevin Marshall brings a needed element and is young enough. I don't see a need to re-sign Simon Gysbers or Mike Mottau really. But, with the depth on D there's not a ton there if injuries arise, so potential is there for them to return. Figuring Holzer moves on in some capacity (I imagine a 7th spot with the Leafs or trade). Dylan Yeo is on an AHL deal, and could be brought back as a utility player [they've used him on D and F similar to Josh Engel a few years ago]. Marlies could potentially bring in UFA signings which always seem to happen.
Spencer Abbott,
Will Acton, (UFA)
Carter Ashton,
Tyler Biggs,
David Broll,
Sam Carrick,
Andrew Crescenzi,
Jerry D'Amigo,
Jerry Devane,
Ryan Hamilton (UFA)
Josh Leivo,
Greg McKegg,
Brad Ross,
Kenny Ryan,
Mike Zigomanis (UFA)
Potential is there for D'Amigo and Ashton to compete for bottom-six spots if the Leafs want to go that route with youth, but both could easily be back again. Hamilton, Zigomanis and Acton are counted on heavily by the current Marlies staff, so I can imagine a big push to bring them back for veteran presence. However, Hamilton had a great season and could look to potentially cash in if the opportunity arises elsewhere (not that he would get a ton, but maybe a bump in his base salary that the Leafs might not be willing to make). There isn't a ton of natural center depth and that's a reason to bring Zigomanis back. Acton is a strong depth player for the club who had a strong playoff offensively. I won't be shocked either way with him, but I think he does add something to be the bottom-six. Question is, is it worth having him or a younger player in the lineup. Ryan Lasch I think they need to let go - didn't do anything for me although he brings a skill element to a rather plain forward group. I just think times better served for other young forwards.
