I am shocked there actually are Stars fans willing to deal Honka. So glad you don’t run the team.

I would only deal him for the right deal, and certainly not for a rental or anyone who won't be with the team long term.

Kane is not better, Zucc has near elite precision with his passes, he had 5 pts in 2 games start of the season including the loss over Toronto 8-5, but on a 1st line Zucc is much better compare to E. Kane.
JT Miller struggle as center this season since he has been played moslty wing position hence why Zucc only have 33 pts. almost no line chemistry.
Rangers is not a good team for Zucc at the moment, because too many players on the current team struggle with possession and execution related to passes. And AV system do not help in that case related to defense system, and it suppose to go quick passes and north-south hockey, but our players skills do not match in his system at all.

We have klingberg, lindel and Heneskin witch can easily be a top 5 defense core in the league. Then you look at our team and the only upgrade to make would be a goal scoring winger. Have to give to get

We need goal scoring though, I would think that Kane would be a better fit

yeah, fine Kane is better at scoring goals, but they are two completely different players.

if the rangers trade zuccarello now is the return going to be more worthwhile than the 1st + decent prospect they will likely get at next year's TDD?

It depends on the table position @AvatarAang but we struggle based on injuries as well. So can a trade move happen before this window close - it`s possible.

It are Lindell and Heiskanen. Lindell is a different type of blueliner while Heiskanen is still an unproven teenager. Even if all 3 play up to their potential, we are quite thin on our blueline. Trading Honka would just create a hole for the near future. Kid has special upside, even if Hitch prefers size and defensive d’s right now.

A scoring winger could be had for pieces who we could spare more, such as Guryanov, Tufte, Bayreuther, Heatherington, or even Shore, Ritchie, Johns. Maybe add a pick here and there. That’s what Nill needs to be working with. Though I’ll doubt he’ll dangle Johns. Seems management likes him.

I'd love to add Zuk to the team I think he's one of the best playmakers in the NHL. However going forward Honka is more important to our team. He might not get as many games as he should this year but in the summer he are likely losing Pateryn and Hamhuis opening up two spots.

I'm not going to disparage Honka, but given he is a "potential" based player, not a "sure thing" who is currently producing at the NHL level as a young player, we already have one of those in DeAngelo.

Never hurts to have more, but after Sanguinetti, Del Zotto, Gilroy, John Moore, etc...well, you can see why I, as a NYR fan, would be hesitant to deal Zuccarello for such a player as the base return in a deal.

I'd want a top 10 1st, or "sure thing" special talent prospect in return. Especially with 2 playoff seasons left at a crazy good cap hit on Zuccy's contract.

I'm not really for trading him, but it's clear that Hitchcock isn't going to play him, so rather than run his confidence further into the ground with not being given a chance to play through his issues like Johns and even Oleksiak were given, I'd rather move him if it helps us on the wing.

Honka, Nuke** and a 2018 1st for Zuccarello?

**Conditional to him actually coming back to the NHL, you might need to add.
I’d stay away from Nichushkin especially as the only forward coming back in a Zuccarello trade. WAY too risky.

He is returning next year, and Dallas would not even consider that deal. With Nill as patient as he is with Honka, and especially Nichushkin, and the draft being held in Dallas this year, no way that deal occurs.

I definitely do this. Maybe even consider down grading the pick to a 2nd.

The problem is. And Dallas fans rightfully wont agree. It is 3 risky "maybe's" for a star player they have for 2 playoff runs. In reality. We could get a top prospect and 1st next TDL and keep Zucc this playoff run. I'd want more then that if we are trading him this TDL.

I'm not too worried about Nuke. Supposedly, him and Buchnevich are besties. Imagine those 2 between Zibby? As I said earlier Honka isn't a given for future Top 4. He could easily flame out or be a 3rd pair PP specialist which are a dime a dozen and the 1st will be 15+ range most likely closer to 20's.

But again. I get why Dallas fans would not like this deal. I wouldn't like it for anything less. I wouldn't ask for Heiskanen unless we are building a McDonagh trade proposal. It just wouldn't make sense to include him in a Zuccarello deal. But Honka + 1st is too low IMO. Taking a gamble on Nuke would sell me on a Honka deal.

I don't want Honka, we've got DeAngelo already.

Guryanov could instead be Nichushkin. Its a trade-off. I like Guryanov's potential more, but I think Buch and Nich are good friends, so we might want to get a player to keep one of our best players happy.
