G: 17-28-12 (or should say 28-17-12, dunno why Mitchel took all the face-offs, Girgs was over 50%)
Foligno, Stewart
Myers/Gorges
B: Hodgson
U: Moulson-Ennis-Stafford, Teddy needs to do something with them.

Reinhart needs to be send down.

Good

- Ennis won his last draw so wasn't a total bust in the dot.
- Foligno's sudden puck patience (and resulting goals;-)).
- Hodgson's two dimensional play, nice to see that digging again.
- Mitchel-Girgensens-Gionta as a checking line, hhmmmm....
- Girgensens back on track after a lack luster 3rd game.
- Gionta actually looking like he cares!

Bad

- Moulson's continued floating while his linemates do the heavy lifting.
- Stafford's seeming disappearance act?
- Stewart's play resulting in Carolina's 1st goal. Ugh.
- Benoit not benched when Reinhart could have easily taken his spot on the backend, lol

Ugly

- 3rd period collapsing penalties.
- 1st line combining for only 3 faceoff wins????
- Bothering to dress Reinhart, wasting another of his 9 games.

Hideous

- Now that Sabres seem to have the makings of a 2nd & 3rd line, it'll all be busted up to fix the 1st. Sigh.

G: Zemgus and Coho were good. Their lines reaped the benefits. Foligno was really good, drove possession and potted a couple.
Myers and Gorges are good together. I thought Gorges was better than Myers tonight.

B. MES line, Benoit-not peewee bad but bad.

U. 3rd period.

Did anyone catch Tyler Ennis attempting to kiss Girgs after his game winning goal?

It was kind of weird. It was like an air kiss. I watched it 3 or 4 times and he never made contact with the left cheek of Girgs, and it's not clear if he was actually trying to kiss him.

I think he was just saying something in his ear.

But at full speed it looked like he was trying to run up and kiss him on the cheek.

I enjoyed it.

Even strength shot attempts when Tyler Ennis was on the ice: Canes 23, Sabres 4. Stats very similar for Moulson and Stafford.

That's pretty ugly.

Holy smokes that's bad! I'm mean, I watched the game, so that's really not that surprising a stat, but damn. Time to break up that line.

It didn't help that they combined for only 4 (I erred earlier citing 3) face-off wins the whole night. And I don't think it was the effort of Ennis either, he looked like a soul trying to do it all playing hero out there? It's Moulson and Stafford I don't "get". Two guys too comfortably settled in as 1st liners by default?

Ennis was a waterbug out there tonight .... I doubt Ennis knew he had wingers tonight.

He was out of control.

That conjures up a goofy image, lol

But yeah, that's sorta what I meant by saying he looked like a guy trying to do too much, playing hero or something similar.

RISTO in OT..that one shift of his gave me a glimpse into his future - #1 dman baby!
Stewart and Foligno were skating well tonight

B:
2 points instead of 1
If we HAD to win, rather be in regulation and not overtime/shootout

U:
Isles won :(
We're not in last place right now :(

Benoit had one good play all game. A blocked shot that wouldn't have happened if he hadn't turned the puck over in the first place. He's slow to make decisions and can't get the puck out of the zone. Psysk better push him down the depth chart.

Stafford is skating hard, but he can't win a puck battle to save his life (or a faceoff, for that matter). ZG schools Drew on a nightly basis on how to play power forward, and probably deserves the top-RW spot over him. At least ZG can create something with his hustle.

Too busy to watch the game but just caught the highlights... sick Zemgoal. Nice to see Foligno get rewarded for what I assume was some good play.

You'd actually want the opposite if you're pro-tank. You'd always want to cede a point on the occasions you win to inflate the competition's point totals.

Something needs to be done. Could we see the return of Foligno-Ennis-Stafford? Moulson/Hodgson had a bit of chemistry last season. I think Hodgson plays to Moulson's strengths better than Ennis.

Moulson-Hodgson-Stewart
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Mitchell-Girgs-Gionta

On the topic of the game played tonight:

Gionta's best game by far. I said in the offseason I would love to see him on a line with Girgs. They both go to the dirty areas, and battle like pitbulls. Loved their game tonight, and I'm excited to see their chemistry progress. I could see Grigorenko centering them by the end of the season.
