Wait WHAT!?!?!

THIS.LEAGUE.IS.A.JOKE.

Noted clean player and childrens book author Hyman hits a shoulder to shoulder hit thats less than a second late and only gets a penalty as the Bruins player got shaken up (notice the late arm going up).

Wasnt it just the other day that Reaves hit Wilson even later from the blindside and concussed him? He also got 5 and a game which is supposed to count towards suspending him or not. Reaves got no supplemental discipline.

This reeks of politics and all media and every Leafs fan should rail against this sort of bias....but they wont of course.

This stuff really pisses me off.

Dear NHL,

You cant give Reaves nothing and give Hyman something. Its literally telling us your decisions are based on politics in one form or another and you dont give two craps about player safety. So go ahead and concretely confirm what most of us think already. It certainly wasnt malicious by Hyman (like the attempted hit on Rielly certainly was).

What a friggin joke.

And that charge came last night, no?

I meant charge, as in brought up on a charge rather than charging

He should certainly get a hearing

Yeah, he's innocent and the league has reason to believe he shouldn't be. That's where the whole due process needs to come into play. Intent to assault, murder, rape etc... gets dealt with the same way.

Agreed, I can't believe he hasn't gotten a hearing

Last I looked being incompetent during your intent to injure doesn't actually make you innocent of what you attempted to do

A fine or maybe a game it was a bit late. But Wagner better get some time as well then, his ht was way worse and a lot more predatory.

Any other team with no history, just a fine and warning. Since he's a Leafs 1 game.

He'll get nothing.

I'd still love an explanation on why Hyman's hit is more dangerous than Kronwall's? Both are boarding on vulnerable players. One is late, the other is from behind.

So do I, he was "charged" with a penalty last night

So was Hyman, that doesn't mean he shouldn't face disciplinary proceedings however if he had a clear intent to injure, which you can certainly argue the Boston player did

Neither player should face more discipline IMO. Wagner missed his and was fairly penalized.

Hyman hit his, was also fairly penalized IMO.

can we stop using "Blindside" in this conversation theres no rule that says the guy you hit has to be looking at you .
McAvoy ran Marner from behind in the first minute wheres his hearing ?
Oh and the guy Hyman fought didn't have his fight straps tied off thats supposed to be a suspension offence too .

the puck never even got to Mathews. Tough to be late when it was never there to begin with.

One can only hope.

Bruins have some mob money in the refs.
Game 5. Must win fir the leafs. How do you explain 7 back to back penalties on the leafs.

Kronwall to Matthews. Meh.
Mcavoy to Marner meh.
JT getting crosschecked like a Bruce lee movie. Meh.

Mcavoy gets hit and is hurt.
Whistle! Hearing! Omg. How dare you.

BUSH LEAGUE NHL. BETTMAN. REFS. AND MOB BACKDOOR DEALS.

No consistency in anything in this league. Suspensions, officiating, you name it. The only thing consistent in this league is score effects. Every, single game. Maybe that's the real reason behind parity?

Blindsiding makes a difference if the attacking player notices or not.

Hyman is actually looking at the puck when he finishes his check, not noticing that McAvoy doesnt see him coming.

Reaves was going after Wilson all night and skates hard into him with full knowledge he cant see him coming.

Ones more predatory than the other IMO. Sadly, intent doesnt seem to matter to player safety.

This is a late hit not a dirty or blind side hit.
Hyman shouldn’t have done it but it’s done.

Kronwall ran interference on Matthews, but it was Matthews’ reach for the puck that made it a “boarding”.
What made it boarding is that Kronwall used the boards as a weapon as he crossed checked him into the board. It is a classic Boarding call. Not interference at all.
