I wonder if he was waiting for a long time to be able to do that celly?

Huge goal.

Fans will have good memories of that goal for a long time because of the stakes of the game/division standings and the utter importance to win that one in the moment....

And because how the play developed, with Rango and (Laf?) collision explosion (haha).

Despite it being in middlen of season..

Good for Sevs. I'm still one of the folks here that want to keep him here if he willing hometown discount.

Probably, Wood alluded to Sevs being hard on himself this year in the postgame. So maybe the blasé attitude after the Flyers game was a public defense mechanism

Good catch. It probably is a defense mechanism...

This is complete nonsense. Again he is one of the best play driving wingers in the NHL who had a poor stretch for a few games, like basically everyone else on the team not named Jack or Nico. He has 9 points in his last 8 games now, FYI.

This is being TOTALLY blown out of proportion...sheesh.
He’s not a puck hunter on the fc and he’s bumped off the half wall very easily on the bo. He’s riding shotgun with two of the best players in the league. The most electrifying offensive player in the game (who’s dramatically improved their defense) or a soon to be Selke winner.
This whole argument coming from multiple people here is projecting imaginary compete issues.

No criticism about his game can’t be made about Sharangovich, Mercer, Tatar, Boqvist, etc. who have all looked like passengers except for the point per game part.

The hate for Bratt from day one has been fascinating.
Laughable. You are comparing a “top ten forward in franchise history” to four role players. The difference is the above players aren’t holding the franchise hostage for 8x$10

I’m now back on my own personal roller coaster of feelings on missing Severson if/when he likely moves on next year.

WHY MUST I CARE SO MUCH!?

again, nonsense. Not based in any reality. Not the eye test, not the advanced stats, not the counting stats.

You also have no idea what his contract demands are nor what the Devils offered. Please don't pass opinion off as fact.

I did call him out too before the 3rd period and I honestly stand by what I said. He's a good even great player at times, but I really dont want to pay him 7-8 million if he has these stretches he looks this disinterested and head up his ass.

I know someone is gonna bring up last season ppg pace and thats great and all. To me last year was kinda pressure free zone. We shouldnt look at how good a player is based on how many points they score on bad teams. It means that said player is skilled, but can they do it when it matters? That only remains to be seen and I think were gonna get a lot of answers at the end of the season.

This attitude is so frustrating to read. How is there no pressure on a bad team? It's just an absurd thing to think about the lived reality of a professional athlete. First off, the Devils started off good, so it seems like by your estimation there should've been pressure on the team at that point. Bratt was the team's best forward over that early stretch. Then, when the team gets bad, the pressure goes away? Bullshit, very few players are fine with playing on a losing team. They want to win. Being on a bad team leads to doubt, 'am I good? What can I be doing better?'

Last year he produced with Dawson Mercer and Andreas Johnsson, want to take a gander at how both guys did without him? He makes either Hughes or Hischier better. He makes any player better. They are riding shotgun with him.

You have no clue what Bratt's demands are or were.

Because they share the same opinion. Their writing styles are absolutely nothing alike.
Well...I didn't mean their writing styles are similar.

I mean they spout the same tired old negative "talking points" regarding Bratt, saying absurd things meant to denigrate anything positive that he does, and trying to convince us that he is not worth any contract here in Jersey.

ZBC calls it weird, I call it trolling 'cause no one can honestly look at Bratt's underlying stats and think he's not worth it unless they're just being contrarian just to annoy us.

Same here tbh, the guy was one of our better players in one of our darkest eras. Said it before, it's a shame the guy won't reap any of the rewards being here with this team looking primed to be great the next decade and a half. Hopefully he goes back West and tears it up there, no ill will towards the guy lol

Dude has a lot of opinions...

Honestly, I'm not sure if he really believed that. I think he knew we were gonna wind up with Hughes and they wouldn't be able to take him so they'd get Kakko, and he was just playing him up to try and absorb the blow.

Although, this was a fairly popular opinion at the time. ''Plays against men'' remains one of my favorite HF Boards'isms and always will.

Its you vs the majority bud, not just me

LMFAO

MY GUY. If you aren’t gaining yards, you won’t be in position to score, limit the oppositions chances and win.

When you don’t have puck possession, you won’t be in position to score, limit the opposition chances and win.

I know its hard, but youll get there one day.
LMAO guy if you don’t have finishers you are screwed no matter what you numbers tell you. And playoffs take it up another notch. Try and keep an open mind

I don`t understand Bratt "hate". He isn`t the best\most important Devils player, he isn`t even the second one. But he obviously important driver and playmaker. And even more - he is important part of scoring. Yes, he doesn`t bring some aspects, but he is obviously bright part of the puzzle. He has the same ppg rate as Gaudreau, 5 years younger and people were ok to pay 9-10 mil to Johnny. Of course he isn`t great puck retriever(I think he isn`t bad one, he is good) and he isn`t good defensive positional forward in defensive zone, but Devils should bring it by other players. People are trying to paint the picture of ideal\perfect player who can produce\drive\check\control gaps\die hard in tight areas\etc. How about slow down expectations. I believe Fitz understand that Bratt doesnt deserve 11 mil, but we are much worser team without him. We can see it by the points\advenced stats. His sh% is 14%, may be we should save players, who can score and use moments? We literally have troubles with this aspect of the game.

the Devils are 7th in the league in goals per game.

This "THEY NEED FINISHERS OMG THEY ARE SCREWED" stuff is so funny to me. Yes, they could use another goal scorer...but they have been a top 10 offense all year.
