How good is a team when Marner is your 4th line winger and Doughty is a 3rd pair D? That's roughly 20 million in players that are now secondary.lol

The fun part about Canada teams is all the omissions... Price, Weber, Binnington, RNH, Giroux, Stamkos... whoever you want. No matter what time you pick, the omission list is always world class.

Always wondered if a canadian second team is better than all other teams:

Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
MacKinnon - Stamkos - McDavid
Scheifele - O'Reilly - Marner
Hall - Couturier - Stone

Giordano - Doughty
Chychrun - Weber
Vlasic - Burns

Price
Fleury

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Giroux - Couture - Konecny
Huberdeau - Barzal - Tavares
Point - Seguin - Duchene
Dubois - Toewes - Gallagher

Rielly - Pietrangelo
Chabot - Ellis
Muzzin [phew] - Letang

Binnington
Hart

Murray
Fleury

Giordano - Burns
Rielly - Hamilton
Doughty - Ellis

Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Hall - McDavid - MacKinnon
Scheifele - O'Reilly - Stone
Point - Couturier - Marner

Ryan Ellis and Dougie Hamilton is flying under the rader, i would have both of them right now instead of Chabot, Morrisey, Parayko, Subban, Weber, Letang and Pietroangelo.

Pietrangelo is the best canadian defenseman in the NHL there is no chance he isnt on this team.

Marchand - Crosby - Bergeron
Point - Mcdavid - Mackinnon
O'Rielly - Scheifele - Stone
Couturier - Giroux - Marner
Hall - Barzal - Seguin

Rielly - Pietrangelo
Giordano - Doughty
Chabot - Weber
Morrisey - Letang

Price
Holtby
Murray

So the b team has tavares on line 2 and still no Subban. That is some insane depth.

If you can imagine a scenario where a team other than Team Canada wins gold, you can probably imagine a scenario where the Canada second team wins gold. I think the Canada second team is probably a top-5 team in the world, on par probably with the USA or Finland. Leddy shouldn't even be on the second team anyway.

Then who the hell should? Searched for 10 minutes late last night until I found the damn yankee. Then there is the classic where half of all nortamericans can't separate Suisse and Suede :)

Hey, jfc64!

I took myself the liberty to compare Team Sweden and the canadian second team proposed above. This is what I found when comparing player for player:

Giroux - Couture - Konecny vs Landeskog - Bäckström - Nylander 1.5 - 1.5
Huberdeau - Barzal - Tavares vs Rakell - Zibanejad - Silfverberg 1.5 - 1.5
Point - Seguin - Duchene vs Forsberg - Karlsson - Arvidsson 2 - 1
Dubois - Toewes - Gallagher vs Pettersson - Backlund - Lindholm 2 - 1

Rielly - Pietrangelo vs Lindholm - Karlsson 0.5 - 1.5
Chabot - Ellis vs Hedman - Dahlin 1 - 1
Muzzin - Letang vs Ekman-Larsson - Klingberg 0.5 - 1.5

Binnington vs Lehner 0.5 - 0.5
Hart vs Lundqvist 0.5 - 0.5

Conclusion: =

Well there is no way that canada leaves Rielly Petrangelo off their roster, good chance atleast one of Chabot or Letang are there too. Seguin, Giroux, Point, Dubois, Tavares etc could all be on the main team as well.

Bad argument. No canadas b team would not beat swedends A team no shot.

In a one game affair they could beat them for sure, hell, the Swiss could beat them or any of the best teams in a one off, so yes they would have a shot. You look at the talent on the supposed B team and there is still plenty of talent to beat Sweden in ONE game. In a series though Sweden takes Canadas B team down though they would likely win a game or 2 in a best of seven I think.

The days of Canada's B team being better than some top countries' A teams are gone at this point. Some countries have improved a lot talent wise and Canada's depth isn't as strong as it has been. The second team is still fairly strong, not that it really matters.

I don't know why this mythical B team always keeps getting brought up every year here in the first place, everyone knows you can send only one team.

Time for that subject to finally die.

Holtby

No one is beating this team, period. Canada still on top.

Also, we could flex our center depth and move Mackinnon to center his own line. Running the 3 best centers in the world down the middle is something other teams simply wouldn't be able to handle.

Good but not unbeatable. MacKinnon and Marner in a penalty kill role? Hmm.

From the dessert. Wait until the next big tournament. Very good defender. Up and coming. Skipped U20 WCH twice and went directly to the NHL. Joe Sakic of defenders. Currently hiding behind Ekman-Larsson.

Jakob Chychrun at eliteprospects.com

I bet you want Morgan Rielly there...on your first team...

No my Defense would be as followed:

Gio - Doughty
Petro - Parayko
Weber - Burns

Please note, this is for this year. If we are talking 2022 Olympics (if they play) a lot can change.

Canadians said the same 1981, 1996, 1998, 2006. And yet Canada got beaten in the end. Team Canada are favorites but some of you guys act like team canada have superpowers.
Some did, not many though. Certainly everyone knew 1981 with the soviets was in doubt, 1998 everyone was worried due to losing in 1996, and 2006 people knew it wasn't in the bag either, 1996 people didn't know what to think with the player losses we had going into the tournament.

The only two best of competitions I can think of that most Canadian fans thought they were surely going to win going away was the 1972 Summit series and the last nhl lockout WJC.

You obviously don't live here and haven't a clue about what Canadian fans thought going into these tournaments so it would be best if you didn't just make things up, thanks.
