Yellowstone I think for many if you watched it from the 1st season, can live with season 4 being not as crazy cause there was no way they could keep that up, if you just started watching it then I suspect many would think season 4 suck. Either way I'm looking forward to season 5.

I honestly think that Season 4 was too pre-occupied with setting up spin-offs (between the prequel and the 6666 ranch) that the narrative was all over the place.

Some characters had a lot to do (e.g. Jamie and Beth) and others were basically sidelined for the season (e.g. Rip, Kayce) while we got to watch a bunch of horses in Texas.

You can get that in Canada?

I guess I assumed because Yellowstone was on Amazon that it wasn’t.
It's $5.99 a month with a free 7 day trial...But I ain't doing like the old cable days, paying for all these streaming services. Amazon because I have Prime, Netflix and Disney+ is fine with me.

Just done with the second season and I find this is like the Dallas of the 2020s lol

It can be fun at times but man seems the only way to respond to anything is kill, kill, kill.

Not just the men, but it's a female fantasy too. So many women like this show, I wasn't sure why at first. Then it dawned on me, they want to be Beth. The type of girls who post pictures of Marilyn Monroe on social media with the caption "If you can't handle me at my worst, you don't deserve me at my best" love this kind of crap. It's their wet dream. Beth acts like a psycho and flies off the handle to basically everybody around her with no repercussions, yet is portrayed as some powerful, intelligent woman somehow instead of somebody who is mentally ill. Add in that she has a punching bag of a boyfriend who is somehow simultaneously the toughest guy who ever existed and also a whipped dog who loves her unconditionally even though she treats him like garbage.

My wife heard it was good and wanted a new show to watch. She would get annoyed at first when I pointed out the stupidity of this steaming pile of garbage (a guy blows up a stump and there's a perfectly intact dinosaur skeleton under it, which then gets stolen and is never referenced again...). Now she realizes how terrible it is. I think what put it over the edge for her is Jimmy having not one, but two attractive women throwing themselves at him even though he has absolutely no game whatsoever.

It's amazing how many popular shows fit this description, in one way or another. Once you realize the pattern is there, it's hard to un-see.

We've talked on this forum before about how a lot of really popular shows and movies from the 70s-80s era are hard to enjoy in retrospect, because they're so transparently just revenge fantasies with unrestrained violence on some strawmanned group (usually foreigners, gangs, mafia, etc. broadly defined as being too criminal to deserve a trial). I have a feeling that 50 years from now, a lot of popular content from the current era is going to be viewed as similarly unwatchable because they are so obviously a Middle American fever dream of being a horrible human being with no consequences, just on a more domestic level.

I'm part-way through season three. I wouldn't call it a good show by any means, but it is entertaining enough to keep watching. I couldn't stand most of the characters in season one, but they've made the Duttons more sympathetic by introducing much worse people like the sadistic casino brothers and vulture capitalists. My main issue is the writing is just really, really sloppy. There's so many stories that are started and not resolved (the dinosaur skeleton, the bomb in the airplane, the murdered reporter). What happened to the girl in season two that liked Jimmy? What about the other black cowboy? He showed up, did nothing, and left. Same with the singing cowboy. How did it go from fall to spring without any winter? How do you get a permit to build a ski resort without anyone knowing about it? Didn't one of John's sons die in the first episode? Why is that never mentioned again? How do so many people get murdered without any real investigation?

It's trash TV disguised as prestige TV, yet somehow I keep watching.

They do leave a lot of hanging plot chads but about half of these come up in season 4 to varying degrees.

Late to the party on season 4. Somehow I have Paramount + but season 4 isn't on there and sling doesn't carry regular Paramount to watch on it. Had to wait for Peacock to stream all of season 4, very confusing and costly to watch TV these days.

Anyway, as actually liked season 4 a bit because I like the actual cowboy part of the show, it's why I liked 1883 even though Elsa got annoying. The whole Dutton family dynamic became too ridiculous to enjoy bit the bunkhouse fun, bonding out in the fields and the rodeo's is what I liked. So I think I'll like the four 6's spin off if it follows that path and less soap opera style like the Dutton aspect.

Also I'm not sure which girl of Jimmy's I like more Mia or Emily? Definitely felt Mia was the hotter one and was gonna leave him which she did but he got the last laugh. Emily is still good looking and seems the sweeter one for Jimmy.

The best theory I read on the black cowboy from season 2 (Steven Williams) is that he's a friend of a producer or Kevin Costner who wanted him to cash a few checks, which to me makes the most sense as he literally served no purpose

That's because they did a deal with Peacock to stream the show instead of having it Paramount+. It seems stupid to me since I have Paramount+ as you would think their best show would be on their streaming site.

I enjoy the show, but I have a few complaints:

1. Every woman on the show is gorgeous. That may seem like an odd thing to complain about, but it takes away from the realism of the show

Way back in post #32 of this thread, you can see what my #1 complaint was of this show

Well, I decided to give 1883 a try, and I'm a few episodes in, and it's the same problem as with Yellowstone

The main character of the show is a flawless beauty:

The random widow on the trek who wants to marry Cap looks like this:

And even the girl who had no lines, and died immediately after getting bit on the ass by a snake while she was peeing, was cast with an actress who is noticeably attractive:

Is this show any good? I watched for a couple episodes and gave up because it seemed super cheesy and an Asian actress played a native woman.

No it is pretty shitty, especially the newest season. I sat through it because it was popular but I have given up on it.
I'm in the same boat. Wasted my time watching it because several of my co workers love it. I said enough is enough after the last season.
