I realize this has Kappy and Johnsson on their off-wing... but I think Kappy with Nylander on that top line is just too much, and Kappy played off-wing in his career before. This gives Kadri 2 skilled wingers to play with, and he has done well with Marleau before. Also, I think Goat has been better than Lindholm so far, Goat has been a shut-down force and defensive wizard, even if an offensive black-hole.

F
------------------------------------
Kapanen-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Marleau-Kadri-Johnsson
Leivo/Ennis-Gauthier/Lindholm-Brown

D

Rielly-Hainsey
Gardiner-Zaitsev
Dermott-Ozhiganov

If there against weak competition in favourable areas I have serious doubts there getting outscored, Johnsson is also playing in a matchup line right now, fairly well to so I think your under playing his defensive game
Oh I like AJ's defense, but think lindholm is better there.
Par seems to be adjusting well and his defensive reads are very good

I think Lindholm is better defensively to but I don't think that gap is enough to downgrade the offensive threat as much as you are with Lindholm over Johnsson

That's fair as I'm only wanting Par there for a short stent anyway. Then let's put AJ there and up the competition lever.
I guess we are agreeing but to a different level haha

No matter what, when matthews and willie are kn the ice together, teams need to worry

Yeah it does make us had to handle, I'm thinking give Kadri and Lindholm the defensive duties and let the other two lines go

I want to kick some ass

I like the idea of 3 line that can score. The M K K line has looked really good while still being able to match up. Why break that one up?
Ultimately, after M an N get back into the swing, we run with
Johnsson Matthews Nylander
Hyman Tavares Marner
Marleau Kadri Kapanen
Leivo Lindholm Brown

All lines can handle the heat. The top 3 lines will punishes the opposition. And the 4th line can chip in when they get an opportunity.

My plan was a strong scoring top 9 with the 4th line chipping in and doing some donkey work, that's why I favoured Lindholm down there
He's ideal for that task and Kadri's line has a strong 2-way element about it

You've got my lineup there I think Salt from earlier

Jesus that forward group looks good

Actually as much as it pains me another Hyman for the Matthews line would be ideal

Ennis Matthews Nylander
Hyman Tavares Marner
Marleau Kadri Kapanen
Johnsson Lindholm Brown

Although I think Ennis and Hyman should be switched

I'll get you there Salt, it's looking like Matthews will get a few games in before Nylander gets back anyway so they won't both be going in cold at the same time
Could you get me to where you are now? I could use a vacation!

Why ennis?
Because in a Cap world I think you have to think pairs, while having a strong bottom 6.

Whoever is with Matthews and Nylander is the odd one out, so who do you put there?. For me it would be Hyman but I think Mike will keep him with JT and Marner. Marleau and Kadri are a pair and Kapanen has been great with them. Plus that's a great 3rd line. 4th line of Johnsson Lindholm and Brown have speed, defensive acumen and should overmatch the oposition.

That leaves Ennis with the top pair and he should be able to keep up as well.

I agree he can keep up, but can he match up? I think that line will see some very good opposition and thus far ennis has only looked good against lower quality competition.
Wouldn't brown there instead maxi.ize the lineups while keeping your main goal?

Yeah agreed they would get the hardest matchup. That's why i was looking to 'hide' him there. Then you have the Kadri and JT line to really exploit the opposition. I also think Johnsson Lindholm and Brown would have their way with most opponents.

Finally, i prefer LW playing LW and RW playing RW etc.

Could switch Johnsson and Kapanen but Kapanen has looked good with Kadri and Marleau so why ruin that line.

The only thing I would change is swap Hyman and Marleau. Because Hyman already has chemistry already with Matthews and Nylander. And Marleau with Marner. I like the third line as is.

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Marleau-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Kadri-Kapanen
Leivo-Lindholm-Brown
Ennis-Gauthier
