THE MONDAY MORNING GOALIE RETURNS

10 – RANDOM THOUGHTS:
The buzz in the Dub is that the suits aren’t pleased no shovel is in the ground for a new arena in Winnipeg, despite the fact it was promised when the ICE moved from Cranbrook, BC. …

Has there been any progress in the new Arena?

I havn't heard a thing.

My guess is they are still working things out with the RM.

Plus, they'll probably have to do a study to determine how to best deal with the traffic before and after games.

From what I've heard they are having issues getting permits approved through the RM of Macdonald.
I could see massive traffic issues on Mcgillvary Blvd. it may be a bit on a small scale Arena but a sellout of 5000 people all leaving at once onto a 2 Lane highway could be a huge bottleneck...not too mention Costco/Kenaston Common/IKEA being just up the road making the highway already busy.

This is my concern as well.

With all the new businesses along McGillvary between Kenaston and the Perimeter, it can get very dangerous with all the traffic.

They would need to expand that stretch by three lanes each way to accommodate the traffic.
