Nice. Whether he's overrated or not, it's time for a change in Detroit.
This is exactly my feeling as well. I'm really happy to have Yzerman back, but even more happy to see actual change happening in the front office. I have a lot of respect for Ken Holland and do believe he is still a good GM, but our current situation calls for a change in philosophy. Hopefully Yzerman brings that with him to Detroit, and aggressively.

Hopefully he does better than Brett Connolly with his first draft pick as the Wings GM.

A new era begins... Things are going to be looking a lot brighter for the wings with Yzerman in charge.

This is great news. I didn’t want Holland gone just for the sake of any change, Yzerman taking over is perfect.

Now I’m probably not in the camp that thinks Yzerman can work wonders that other GMs can’t, but if he

1. Keeps patient (doesn’t make trades just to quick-fix the team)
2. Manages to bring some scouting talent from Tampa
3. Makes the Wings more attractive to FAs

this could be huge.

My level of excitement for the draft, offseason moves and next season went from 3 to a 10 overnight. It might take a while but Stevie is gonna bring us back.
