Needs to be more physical. Unfortunately seems like one of those situations where either you like to use your body or you dont. There is nothing more I hate than a big man lacking physicality, he was way too soft for the first goal against today. Great prospect but that aspect needs serious work.
Don't focus too much on singular plays. Wallinder had more hits than Edvinsson this season and has shown a ton of improvement in defense and physicality. Even though he ended up on the wrong side of some goals in this game he was praised all night long just like he's been through these playoffs.

Leading the SHL regular season champion in ice time as a 19 year old defenseman in a double-OT game 6 with their season on the line... I'd say he's doing pretty incredible, and even more so if you consider his struggles last year at a lower level. Of course that doesn't promise an NHL career but it's certainly a good starting point.

He also ended up being Rögle's ice time leader for the entire playoffs.

Good enough to lead the best SHL team in ice time when their season is on the line... not good enough to make the Sweden u20 team. I (and others) am extremely skeptical of the staff that put together the Swedish World Junior team

Wallinder is on Sweden's preliminary roster for the WJC in August, along with Edvinsson and Niederbach who were on the team in December. The preliminary roster has 23 names so they can add 2 more.

kid gon be siccckk

all these kids 6'3+ with significant reach is going to make it very hard for teams to get in a quality shooting range for us.
hope it works!

William Wallinder this season at SHL:

8 games, 2+3=5 points, (Team-high of D)
+6 -6 = +0 plusminus.
88 Fenwick for (Team-high)
53.0% Fenwick% (3rd best from D)
21:32 ice-time (Team-high)

Wallinder at Champions Hockey League

6 games, 1+7=8 points.+1 (Point Leader Tambellini 3+5=8)
12 blocked shots (highest on team)
18:44 icetime (2nd highest after Tony Sund)

So in general it has been 14 games, 3+10=13 points. +1.
On average +20minutes on ice-time (Team-high)

What a step has he taken. He's just 20-year old, great moving 6'4 LD.

It was interesting to compare those SHL, and CHL stats, it seems like he has been a defensive defenceman at CHL (12 blocked shots, less ice-time on PP, they have used Tony Sund more insted of him) and at SHL he has been an offensive dynamo, playing most, and only 1 blocked shot.
