Did you see what Tampa got in return for JT Miller? Only played 9 minutes in their last playoff game against CBJ and he makes 5m+. He was a pure cap dump for Tampa, even got healthy scratched this spring a couple times. They got a 1st, 3rd and a backup goalie/AHL goalie for him...

Vegas will get value for Miller just like Tampa got value for JT Miller. If the player is decent to good and not on a horrible contract, multiple teams will be interested in that player and will give up something for him. Even if the team trading him are doing it to shed cap, other teams look at the possibility to improve their roster before they try to hurt another team.

None of the players that Vegas is moving out or talked about are 1st 2nd round pick players , you could try and make the case for Colin, but even that's a stretch.

Their are a lot of teams this year in particular that have cap issues , nobody should be surprised that these trades are all cap dumps .

Once karlsson is inked I believe his contract
Then puts Vegas either over the 10 percent or close to it, with that being the case Vegas is hamstrung from making moves due to being penalized.

If it was karlsson getting moved you could then make the case for a 1st.

And most teams that have the cap space are in a rebuild which means more adding and less subtracting.

So this means we still don't know the exact cap hit? Regardless under 6M is pretty good given how high the cap is.

I'd take pay-cut too to stay in Vegas. Best place to play in the NHL imo. Sin city, clubs, casinos, celebrities, parties, women, the warm weather, and of course a contending team. It's the life most players would love to have in their 20's.
That's why Karlsson took less money, and why Stone/Pacioretty almost immediately extended after getting traded

I can think of maybe 15 other places I'd rather live that are home to other NHL teams..

Isnt this confirmed now? Its all over the TV and everything that its a done deal confirmed

What a steal for VGK.
TBH its a fair deal for both if true,I mean where exactly would WK be without LV,and vice versa....Looks more like team and player understanding each other perfectly, which is refreshing

I believe they either have to wait until the new cap becomes official to go within 10% over, or they have to shed salary as they can't commit an additional 5.9m to next seasons roster.

I'd say if you have a player like Karlsson as your thirdline center I think you are in a pretty good position no less.
Who more than Glass are you expecting to bump him down btw?
Krebs perhaps? But I disagree with the premise of the post you responded to. 5.9 million AAV for Karlsson will never be ‘rich.’ If will just get better and better as the cap rises.

If they don't put that in it has its advantage if karlsson turns out to not be the player they expected he can be moved , but if they don't add that and he has a great year Seattle with the expansion will probably take advantage of that and pick him.

So Vegas better be sure with him and how they plan to structure his contract.

Vegas is exempt from the Seattle expansion draft.

Okay? The guy said he personally would love to live here. I know millions love living in and who knows how many more wish they could live in New York, but I'd never want to live there.

Not everyone is the same. This applies to NHLers as much as it does people sitting in front of their computer trying to guess what their residency preferences are.

Yeah I forgot about that. However that's a joke . Vegas was given the keys to the kingdom 2 years ago and now they get retrieved again.

It's great for Vegas, but for the nhl it's just another black eye against the league.

Check back when you reach age 30. Couldn’t care less about any of that stuff.
