Lucic singlehandily destroyed the Leaf Franchise in that game 7. It certainly was his raw leadership there that helped the team basically have one of the best comebacks in sports history.

One of the greatest examples of rallying the troops in pro sports I've ever seen. Not to get off topic, but I'm extremely happy he's back. Helps take the sting out of Bergeron calling it a career.

Let's not forget Matt Bartkowski's only playoff goal ever.

First goal of the game is so important.

get used to committees, we are are about to go into the season as centers by committee!
I’m ready and ok with that. My expectations aren’t that high for next season, if we’re lucky maybe we get a few surprises from young players. We can’t have an all star team every year.

As for the next captain I don’t know how it couldn’t be Marchand with the career he’s had in Boston and how he’s been one of the main leaders the last few years. To me you want a guy that continues what Bergeron and Chara did of calling guys when they come into Boston and making them feel welcome. Marchand is that guy now.

I could see Marchand as the next Captain, but I could also see the Bruins wanting to go with a more long term player. Marchand is signed for 2 more years and will be 37 when his contract expires. How many more years is he really going to play?

Marchand IMO is to emotional and still does some questionable things to be captain. Give him a year of three A's and after the year evaluate what is best going forward. There is a lot of leadership gone from last years team. Not just Bergy

I think you give Mac the C and let him grow into it. Marchand will be the defacto leader for the next few years letter or not but being able to have a long tenured captain that has seen the ups and downs of the team is something you go for imo.

Marchand all the way.
McAvoy will be captain soon enough.

For now, let the heart (Brad) take the baton from the soul (Patrice).

Incidentally, David may grow into his A.

I don't believe he's there yet, never mind the C.

The captain is not necessarily the highest paid, the most talented, or the guy you want to flatter with a status symbol.

I like David and apprciate his talent, but he is a long, long way from wearing the C.

I don't think that's who is, at least at present, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Spoken like a leader who has learned how to lead, letter on the chest or no.

This is SO far off base. In my best junior B season I played 43 games and had 398 minutes in penalties. Guess who had the best relationship with the officials?

Don't be confused - there are guys that play like Marchy who command respect, and there are guys who play like Marchy who get zero respect. He is 10,000% in the former class, in part fueled by his change over the years.

He'd be a GREAT captain, and will be.

But in all seriousness, I agree.

Has DK officially retired? What if he comes back for one more swing?
Honestly if the team wasn't good enough to take it home last year... maybe continue to move forward.

Does Krejci still have something left in the tank? Maybe. Do we bleed it dry? I say no.

I voted Marchand because it's the logical choice and he's likely only got a couple more seasons himself so after that you can see if MacAvoy (or perhaps Pasta) has earned it or not.

But what I'd really enjoy would be them naming Looch captain just because it'd be fun.

Didn't Middleton and Bourque wear the C at the same time in the mid 80's? That seems so strange now.

Without question Marchand is the next captain. The guy was literally attached to a leader many people call "the perfect hockey player" for what 13 years? A captaincy isn't necessarily something you're given just because you've been around a long time, but the man has come a LONG way from the maniac of his early years. Not to mention 862 points in 947 games. He'll play his 1000th game with the Bruins this year if healthy. He'll get his 900th point. I don't know if he has a 30 goal season in him, but 400 goals is coming this year or next. If 63 isn't eventually in the rafters next to Bergeron for eternity, what do you think went wrong? The guy has earned it 100%. He's ready.

After Marchand, it probably goes to McAvoy who will now have a big clear reason to up his own leadership game over the next couple years and carry on this Chara/Bergeron/Marchand legacy.

I really hope that the Bs put the "C" on Brad.

FB has several posts that say, "Congrats to Marchy". I wish they wouldn't do that until it is fact.
