Of the bolded, only Lundqvist and Tim Thomas have achieved more than Fleury. In the last 25 years, the HHOF has admitted only seven goalies:
- Billy Smith (1993)
- Grant Fuhr (2003)
- Patrick Roy (2006)
- Ed Belfour (2011)
- Dominik Hasek (2014)
- Rogie Vachon (2016)
- Marty Brodeur (2018)
Forgetting older goalies who could still be considered (e.g. CuJo, Osgood), these are some of Fleury's goaltending contemporaries who could also be considered for the HHOF:
- Lundqvist
- Luongo
- Thomas
- Rinne
I'm not saying there isn't a case for Fleury. But unless the HHOF changes its approach to admitting for that position, I don't think they all make it in. And I don't think Fleury's case is as strong as some of those others.
It's true MAF was never considered a top 5 goalie, and has made only 3 ASG's, but being 3rd all time in wins and 3x champion carries a lot of weight.
I expect Lundqvist, Thomas, and Fleury to make it to the HOF. Luongo is on the fence because, unlike Fleury, he has never achieved anything.
