Sather has to be in his early 70s at this point, right? It sounds like he trusts his support personnel with orchestrating trades (McDonough he admits he just made the call on, didn't line up the pieces). Maybe he is ready to be less day-to-day GM...?

This may well be the case? He just sounds like a d*****bag when he makes comments like he did about not allowing Gorton to talk to other teams even after NY is out. Could be he was just annoyed that the press is asking him questions about Gorton when they are in the middle of a playoff series.
