After they split the first 2 games of their first round series vs. the islanders, they had a team meeting where he laid into everyone and demanded more sacrifice and determination from the team as a whole. They won the next 8 games after that en route to winning the cup.

I meant it exactly the way I posted it. Eric Lindros' trade was instrumental in getting the pieces back to the Quebec nordiques for their cup run as the Avs in 96.

I can see that there are two sides to a trade, and one side of that trade was a direct beneficiary of players that helped with a cup win. Perhaps it's you that can't reconcile that.
