What's up with Tavares?

Don't know, but he's very streaky. Wouldn't be surprised to see him roll off 15 points in 7 games or something and have everyone say how he's quietly roaring back.

When Boychuk and DeHaan went down it was obvious we needed to bolster the blueline, now he has brought in Davidson to be our savior and we need to get out from behind the 8-Ball. For a guy who wants to win a cup, I don't see the appeal for JT to stick around when the team misses the playoffs two year in a row.

Not going all out because he doesn't want to risk an injury and cost himself millions of dollars?

One of the many reasons I don't see Tavares staying on LI. He would have signed by now. Stamkos should be a precautionary take, if that blood cot was more serious and he had to retire just as he was getting ready for his big payday..

Tavares has been a streaky player since his rookie season. It has been a longtime complaint among nyi fans. I guess he has been mailing it in since rookie season?:sarcasm:

The Islanders have won ONE playoff series in the 8 seasons (soon to be 9 I have to think) since drafting Tavares. I hope he leaves, because Snow has done nothing to make it worth his while to stay. Anywhere but Toronto though.

This thread pops up couple of times a year, every year because Tavares is streaky as f***

Okay, I want the streaky Tavares on my team then.
What would you give the streaky, talented Tavares?

I think it was Dreger that said he thinks a team is prepared to offer $15m per. Would you give $15m per for his 80-90 points?
How about $13m per?

I'd do $13M for sure, and have to think about anything over that. This is where the Price contract hurts. Montreal hasn't had a real star forward since my avatar.

Why anywhere but Toronto?

Tavares hasn't played well as of late but he's streaky. NYI lack of team defense hurts his style of offense.

Probably a really awful slump. Believe it or not these things can happen to great players.

Bad timing for this slump though. Islanders need him now more than ever.

Why anywhere but Toronto?

Because I can’t stand their media hype train and [mod] think they’re the centre of the hockey universe and that every big name UFA wants to play there.
