Deals I would be looking at

Dumba+12th overall (turned down by most wild fans)

Small steel, Josh Manson , 8th overall( turned down by duck fans as they dont see the use in spending so much on a winger)

Boqvist+2018 3rd overall

Makar+2018 4th overall(probably gets shot down by the avs)

Keller+Chychurn+2018 1st

Weresnki+Andersson+

Oilers say no as well as the get nothing for their 8th OA pick

Laine and Trouba for Marner and what?

The “and what” here would be a bus ticket outta town for Dubas. They might even just leave him on the side of the road Gerard Gallant style.

I anticipate the cap hit of Laine/Trouba would be close to $16m+ (further digging Tor into cap hell).

With that said, Leafs fans need to realize that the same reason they may not be able to sign Marner, is the same reason most teams won’t/can’t pay top value for him - whoever signs him is going to be cash strapped, needing young assets.

Vancouver's 2019 10th overall pick
Any of Baertschi/Pearson/Goldobin/Levio/Sutter/Granlund/Roussel/Beagle/Eriksson if you so choose.

Toronto gets their top four D along with a replacement forward of some manor and a top 10 pick (in the strictest literal definition) and a D prospect who could be ready as soon as tomorrow.

I don't really need to speculate

If he's not signed by the draft we're going to find out exactly what he's worth in a trade because he's moving somewhere that isn't Toronto

Assuming Marner new contract is 10-11 million per year over 5-6 years?

So you expect another team to overpay for a player your trying to move to save your team.

If Toronto is trading a proven 22 year-old 90+ point player they're going to want more than a couple of prospects and late picks.

Proven really??? Seriously it's one season where scoring was at an all time high. Like I've said before 10m should be the max for a RW and anything more the Leafs better search trade options.

Does Toronto have the cap space available to take back established players, which aren't on a sweet heart deal?

It really depends on the discrepancy between Marner and the Leafs camp. If a <10.149 x <6 can get him signed a team is weighing 1st+1st+2nd+3rd against a trade proposal, and he remains a Leaf.

If they're will to go above the 4 x 1st threshold they're almost certainly going to go 7 year with it, then it becomes a game of finding a trade that both parties like better than 4 consecutive 1st rounders.

Let me be first to say that trading Marner is absolutely the last resort for the Leafs. I consider him untouchable or as close to untouchable as there is on the team. The only reason I rate Matthews higher is due to the position he plays, but Mitch drives his line being a winger and is hockey sense is honestly second to none.

Hypothetically, if the contract talks are difficult and Leafs begin entertaining offers for Mitch, what would your team offer?

Mitch Marner garner lol
fun to say
