Isles fans told you when the trade happened exactly what kind of defenseman Hamonic is. He's not "flashy" and never will be that type of player that'll wow you with goals or big checks or lightning-quick speed.

He's one of those defenseman you don't notice very much during the game, but does his job: shutting down opposing forwards, eating minutes, doing what he can to keep the puck out of the net and whatnot.

This makes it very easy for someone to pull up his hockeydb page and go "only five points in 31 games with a -4? Hahahaha he's terrible! Worse than Gryba lololol!" Like most defensive defensemen, the eye test is really needed to determine how effective he is, not someone who isn't watching him play but has plenty of opinions derived from his statline.

Glad to hear Hamonic is settling in and playing much better.

Not even just Hamonic. For whatever reason the last few years the whole D seems to take until December to figure out how to play

I love how he’s played. The reason why we had to give a first is because he is underpaid for what he does defensively.
