What range of record would you require to consider hiring Nasreddine as HC?

What range would you keep Nas?

Love seeing that video...Not even gonna say how much I wish Stevens would be a coaching candidate. Oh wait, I did it again.

Man to man D in hockey is usually a bad idea because the ice surface compounds good and bad decision-making so you can't really hustle your way back to cover for a mistake. And you put a lot of pressure on players to make the right reads.

Nas is intriguing.

He has the team play sound defensively (with some brainfarta here and there). Looks to be an amazing communicator.

We went neck and neck with the best teams in the league 10 days ago and we just destroyed the Caps.

But we don't know if this is because there is NO PRESSURE (The Games don't matter) or not.

Our lousy start basically turned every win from here on in, into Fools Gold and I sure as hell don't want Shero to be a Fool here if one of Lavi, Cooper, and Boudreau are available.

And Lavi is a known offense-killer, @Jason MacIsaac ? The Preds won their game without him 1-0 today.

Me thinks it's more of The Preds being offense-killers than Lavi.

And for those who want Scott Stevens as HC, while I wouldn't mind that, this team needs an Experienced Established(and I emphasize this) NHL Head Coach if they are to take that next step.

future coach here

that Preds plays looks like the same poor coverage the Devils end up with.

This style of coverage is so poor without absolute perfection that it doesn’t make sense to run. If your players make no errors and never mis-read the play then it’s pretty good but when it goes wrong your coverage ends up as a total mess. Guys are going to make errors or read the play differently than teammates and this system assumes nobody ever will.

The "Shero only hires people from Pittsburgh" narrative is old and not even factual if you look at the organization as a whole.

And a day later he is fired.....

The key positions of AGM, Head Coach and top assistant all came from Pittsburgh with him. At the time you have to say you need to give him his guys, but as things went off the rails it was clear their was insular thinking philosophical problems.

Laviolette is a known offense killer.

Yet his Predators team was top 10, I think 7, in the league in goals for per game.

This idea seems to be getting thrown around a ton based on heat maps, but Laviolette has consistently gotten results on every team he’s coached. I’ll take that over this narrative.

Only way I want to stick with Nas is if he shows remarkable improvement of the team play and individual performances from our kids
What sucks is that the Devils can not afford to be patient when two very good coaches in Laviolette and Gallant are unemployed but waiting to be snatched up by other teams .
What makes it even more unclear as to what will happen with the current coaching situation is Fitz being new to the GM role. Who knows if he has the ability to convince Laviolette or Gallant to come here or even if he wants to consider switching up the coaching position .
Nothing against Nas , but he was with Hynes for so long , I can’t see him changing much from what Hynes tried to do (and failed very miserably )

Not At All

Nas is a disciple of Hynes & also subscribes to the, "all offense all the time" philosophy, with this idiotic aspect to the game where all Dmen must flee the zone & jump into the offense.

To be fair, he's not as "religious" about it as Hynes, but it's there. Teams like this which ignore defensive fundamentals do not win Stanley Cups, especially when you clearly dont have the defensive personnel to pull that style off, thereby literally exacerbating your team's weakness on the ice. The Andy Greene, Mirco Mueller, and Ben Lovejoys should not be forced to play aggressive offensive hockey, it is not their game and sets them up to fail.

is there a universe where those three aren’t failing with the present version of the team.

They are not sticking with him now that Shero is gone. Marty commented that ownership wants him to submit a plan to move the team forward and I am sure Fitz is as well. I would be very surprised if either recommended sticking with the current staff.
