What is Kane missing from being considered as the best player of his generation?

100+ Point seasons
Crosby: 5
Malkin: 3
Ovi: 4
Kane: 1

40+ Goal seasons:
Crosby: 2
Malkin: 3
Ovi: 9
Kane: 1

I think it's pretty obvious. Malkin and Crosby have also had way more games lost to injury over that time span.

Idk if you can even give Kane the number 4 spot over a guy like Stamkos. Stammer has 4 40 goal seasons and 3 90 point seasons, while Kane has only 1 of each.

patty kane is playing on another level since Nov; guy is on an absolute tear. wouldn't surprise me if he took over kucherov or at least finish as a top 3 in points this season.

Strome coming into his own a little also helps open up scoring for the hawks and spread out offense helping stars put on a show more

I has nothing to do with not being Canadian. He simply is not as good. Look at the number of Top-10 goals, assists, point finishes and GPG, APG, and PPG for Kane and the likes of Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin...it's not even close.

Using game winning goals as an argument for Kane being a better clutch player is asinine. Not only are game winning goals deceiving (ie. player scores goal for team to put them up 4-1 against the opposition with the opposition scoring 2 goals resulting in 4-3 final score and said player now having the game-winning goal). Pretty well all goals are equally important and Kane is lacking when compared to the other 3.

As of now, Kane ranks a good step below these recent players...more along the with the likes of a Joe Thornton. Nothing wrong with that - both will be first ballot hall of famers.

So you are basing it on playoff PPG? Playoff PPG is not equal to best player. Kane's clutch plays significantly outweigh any other player on there. You can't just do a PPG chart.
What is it with Hawks and intangibles when trying to make an argument for why they are better than everyone else. It’s like there’s a training manual. “If the stats say otherwise, don’t fret, just claim he’s better at something that is impossible to prove like “clutch plays” or grit/60 and the argument is yours”

If the big 3 weren't playing in his era, Kane would be runaway best player of his generation. But there are levels to this and he isn't on their level. Nothing to be ashamed of because those 3 are special, special players man

While he has a Hart, look at where he generally finished in voting relative to Ovi and Crosby. Not only do the 8 and 87 have more than one win, they also have a bunch of nominations.

Ovi:
Top 10 points = 1/2/2/3/3/4/7/8
Top 10 goals = 1/1/1/1/1/1/1/3/3/4/5
Hart = 1/1/1/2/6/6/9

Sid:
Top 10 points = 1/1/2/2/3/3/3/3/6/10
Top 10 goals = 1/1/7/7
Hart = 1/1/2/2/2/3/5/6

Kane:
Top 10 points = 1/2/5/9
Top 10 goals = 2/5/10
Hart = 1/6/6/7

Even if Kane somehow won the Ross/Rocket/Hart this season, he'll still be miles behind Crosby and Ovi. All the are on the back-half of their careers, Ovi will probably win the rocket this season, and continue to be top 10 for a while. Crosby has just as much of a shot at getting high point finishes as Kane does into their mid-30's. It's not close.
and what makes it even more clear as day are the PPG/GPG finishes

PPG
Ovechkin: 1,1,1,5,5,8,9,9
Crosby: 1,1,1,1,1,2,2,3,3,4,6
Malkin: 1,2,2,3,3,3,4,7,8
Kane: 1,3,4,4,5

GPG

Ovechkin: 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,5,5,6
Crosby: 1,1,2,10
Malkin: 2,3,3,6,6
Kane: 2,3,7

(because Malkin's Top 10s weren't posted)
Points: 1,1,2,4
Goals: 2,4,4
Hart: 1,2,2

If you cancel common finishes for each metric, here's what it would look like:

Kane - OV: T10 Points, Goals, Hart, PPG, GPG

5,9 : 2,3,3,4,7,8
2, 10 : 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,3,3,4
6,7 : 1,1,2,9
3,4,4 : 1,1,5,8,9,9
3,7 : 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,2,5,5,6

Kane - Crosby: T10 Points, Goals, Hart, PPG, GPG
5,9 : 1,2,3,3,3,3,6,10
Goals stay the same
6,7 : 1,2,2,2,3,5
4,5 : 1,1,1,1,2,2,3,6
3,7 : 1,1,10

Kane - Malkin: T10 Points, Goals, Hart, PPG, GPG
5,9 : 1,4
5,10 : 4,4
6,6,7 : 2,2
4,5 : 2,2,3,3,7,8
7 : 3,6,6

Literally in every metric, Kane comes DEAD last

I love Kane's game. He is having an amazing career, both personally and team-wise. But I feel like anyone who would put him above Crosby, Ovechkin, or even Malkin isn't talking sense.

Kane is an amazing player but I wonder if the rape allegations and the cab incident doesn’t hurt his legacy in this regard

Edit: to clarify I just meant in a way that maybe a little bad PR hurt his reputation in his early career doesn’t take anything from him as a hockey player

I think Kane should be ranked higher than Malkin or Ovechkin considering his achievements and amazing skill level. When you think about it realistically 5 or 10 points more per season doesnt prove about anythink who is better player it depends so much on what style of game team plays what kind of linemates etc player has and Kane has comparable stats last 10 years as those mentioned players. What matters is that when game is on line tied 3-3 or you are chasing one goal lead and Kane gets puck on his blade he is about more dangerous than anyone its mostly about his silky smooth skills and patience with puck only Crosby should be ranked higher than him 2010-to this day this decade and Kane is younger than Ovezkin or Malkin clearly younger he propably has 3-5 years more great years ahead than those.

From 2007-2015 Datsyuk was easily better.

Does any current active player have more playoff OT goals than Kane?
I’ve always been under the impression that he’s super clutch and now looking it up it he has 5 playoff ot goals with 3(!) series clinchers.
