Yay or Nay?

Great diagram...I have a feeling we'll be evaluating this again and again...every week!!:p:

If I understand this correctly...if the buyout happens this season, or next season:

$1,166,667 goes towards our cap, and...Desharnais gets $2,333,333 till 2017 instead of $3.5mil/year for the next 4 seasons.

Correct?! ($1,166,667 towards our buyout cap hit till 2019-2020...not bad, not great!).

I'd try sending DD to the AHL to see if that scares him a little into some kind of urgency. But his game has nothing to do with urgency or intensity...it's all about making crafty passes to TWO big power forwards (something almost everyone who is a CENTER on our team can do! Pleks, Galchenyuk, Eller, Bournival, etc).

Bournival playing with a HOT Cole and a HOT Pacioretty can get 60pts. Thing is...Bournival brings more to the table IF he's not getting pts (starting with waaaaaay more speed and way more of a two-way game).

Not separating DD from Cole and Pacioretty during the season DD got 60pts = solid contract for DD.

p.s.: another -1 game for DD. DD is waiting for Pacioretty to come back (in fact he needs TWO Paciorretys!). I'm actually hoping DD can get out of this hole 'cause it's not good for our Habs and his value. Kopecky anyone?!!!

no babe thread i might get the ban hammer :(

Quite sexy, cute.
(if this in in fact DD's girlfriend/wife).

Is she taller without heels VS Desharnais?!

And, if this is in fact his g-friend or wife...maybe she can try giving him a massage before every game? (the kind with a special finish at the end!;)).

p.s.: I hope I don't get banned for joking around...just jokes.
(this thread is so depressing...might as well joke around a bit, no?! where is ''IcePoutine'' when he's needed!).

p.s. II: fun fact...DD was 13-2 in face-offs VS the Ducks!!:amazed:
He will be our playoffs face-off specialist!!:naughty:

What the F are you trying to say here? That he's not going into corners because his body is physically incapable of it? Or that his body is limiting his ability to shoot (Gionta, I'd agree, his biceps are done)?

Come on man, we have eyes. He's playing scared, he's playing lazy, or he's trying too hard - whatever the excuse is, it proves that Bergevin was wrong to extend him when he did. Desharnais was not a proven commodity then and either his lack of professionalism or his lack of fundamental hockey ability is on display right now.

My favourite hockey anecdote is when Souray said he practiced his slapshot all summer every day the summer before he broke out and tore the league a new one. Desharnais hasn't added new tools to his very limited toolshed. He can pass, and he's actually hustling on the some plays... be he doesn't go into corners and it's killing his line.

Briere was a terrible signing and so is Desharnais, and I'm not going to feel sorry for being totally and 100% unequivocally right about both.

Well yea he's been playing badly and yea the contract was a huge blunder.

I'm saying I feel sorry for the guy that this is happening. And that it's easy to turn on someone like him cause he's small and plays an unortodox style.

Last night he played well though. Hopes it continues.

no he wasn't

By DD standards, I thought he played half decently, actually. :)

He wasn't. He was okay, just okay.

Good on faceoffs, but unless we've totally re-written expectations and placed his ceiling on the Gomez scale (works hard, getting chances, good in the dressing room, shows he "cares") DD's lack of intangibles requires he show up on the scoresheet.

The guy has zero goals in 10 games, and is a team worst +/-, his effort should be making everyone forget these facts.

The DD standards are set so low now that a bad outing is now a "promising" outing.

Ok he got a breakaway and missed . That's as good as it gets now.

it's not that at all. yes he got a breakaway but his line played great, they were in the ducks zone most often than not and they were constantly creating chances. he got his nose dirty and played with drive. so he's no longer playing uninspired hockey and THIS is what he has to do to get out of his funk. and he did the same thing the previous game. and yes he is improving on the dot

im fine with calling him out when he's playing bad, but the constant falling over each other that's going on in this thread to point out that he had a bad game when in fact he didn't, is pathetic

I liked his game yesterday too. I think we should went at 20 games to see if he should be traded or not.

I feel bad for him too. Contract was obviously too long but I think he's out there working hard. He's worked very hard to get where he is and it was nice to see a small guy like him crack the NHL and do well.

But we didn't do him any favours by giving him first line minutes and all that PP time. And now he stands in the way of guys like Galchenyuk who should be playing center...

I really hope that we'd be able to trade him to a place like Nashville where they could use a creative center and have some size to spare. I don't know what we're going to do with this guy but the more our team develops the more he seems to be the odd man out.

At least he's been better than Briere...

I think even Kostitsyn haters ( and there is a ridiculous amount ) would admit he is a way better fit for this team.

Max Eller AK
Bourque Pleck Gionta
Prust Galchenyuk Gallagher
Moen Bournival White

Looks like a better lineup to me. AK would work with Galchenyuk nicely too if they wanted to swap him with Gallagher. That would've been a nice solid forward lineup with no Briere or DD in it.

Oh well...

who will score 1st, DD or Giroux? lol
Don't laugh. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Flyers are going to dump Giroux on us and we'll wind up giving them back Galchenyuk or Eller and we'll be saddled with another small Quebecer who can't score.

Don't know what happened to Giroux (he hurt his hand in the offseason) but he had one spectacular year and has really not been the same since. Good player but that contract is stupid. I wouldn't want anything to do with him.

But I'm worried that we're going to get stuck with him. 8.2 million a year until the year 2022... yeeeeuck.

I was pretty sure that Giroux's 95 point season was a fluke. I think he'll plateau at a 70 point level.

Kopitar would have been on the list yesterday.. but he scored yesterday... his 1st goal in 27 regular season game or something. That was also the first goal score by a Kings center this season. :amazed:

I have issues with some of Bergevin's decisions but I seriously doubt he'd be dumb enough to do this.
But I think his wrist issue is still affecting him. He had one insane year but he's been pretty much a ppg player for 3years and the playoffs of 09-10 (which is when he blossomed).
So I think his wrist is the problem.

Well to be fair, he was a ppg player for 3years 1/2. So ya, his 95pts was perhaps a fluke, but he's still a pretty good contributor. I think his wrist set him back a lot.

Point per game player though... makes Kopitar's lack of goal scoring a lot easier to take.

Well, I remember before it came out that we were going after Briere I was laughingly joking about us going after him. I was floored when we actually did. I wouldn't have feared this before but I do now.

I don't want any part of that guy and his crazy-insane contract. If it happens it will be Gomez Part II.

He was ok yesterday, no more no less. I still couldn't believe that on Montreal's first PP, Eller didn't get a whiff of it and DD started the PP. Maybe MT is trying to get him started and yes, maybe a goal or a great play would lift DD's spirits but geez, Eller on the bench in his favour?

The lamentations and gnashing of teeth over Desharnais are hilarious. While I didn't agree with the length of his contract, DD has some utility. It was partly Therrien's fault for playing him with Briere when he started this season. DD needs TWO BIG WINGERS to succeed, ideally with some speed. When MaxPac comes back , I hope he rejoins DD (Bournival has better chemistry with Pleky, imo) with Bork on the right and he'll likely do much better.

DD's contract is untradable folks. Accept him for what he is, and put him in the best context for him to contribute. Not to mention that trade activity is and likely to remain low across the league due to the salary cap, any fantasy of a DD trade is precisely that... a fantasy.
