I'd love to see Duchene in Carolina for the next rebuild (he's not the guy that moves the needle)

I don't think they'll go after anyone right now. They'll try Aho and Necas at C and still will have Rask when he returns from injury.

Obv Duchene. He's the best one available and they could probably send that ****ty Skinner return to Ottawa and Dorion would accept because of Melnyk having trouble breathing due to that 6m paycheck.

Matt Duchene.

I'd go after Matt Duchene....

Faulk for Duchene makes sense to me. Faulk would be somewhat of a replacement for Karlsson.

Duchene is the answer.

While Duchene might be AN answer for the Canes, there's no way Justin Faulk waives his limited NTC (15 teams) to go to the shit show that is Ottawa at the moment (Senators fans deserve much better). I'd move the 2020 1st and a prospect for Duchene (he's a rental). Otherwise I'm with @Boom Boom Apathy, I think the Canes wait out Rask's injury, playing Wallmark and/or others as the 4C. Aho, Staal, and Necas are now the likely top 3 C's for now.

Long term Duchene or maybe Johnson is something that could happen but as others have said it seems the team wants to see what Aho has to offer as a center and to see if Necas is ready for at least the third line spot.

Unless it goes disastrously in preseason I think those two now are starting the season as centers.

Maybe starting at the halfway point they’d consider adding. We need to add a goalie more than a top center regardless.

Long Sault, Ontario
From Ottawa; Duchene, Stone, Ryan
From Carolina; Faulk, Jake Bean, 2019 1st, conditional picks dependent on Duchene/Stone resigning.

If we’re getting Duchene and Stone with knowledge we can get them signed and we have to take Ryan to get it done I don’t see how we don’t take a long hard look at that.

That offer is bad for Ottawa not us, depending on the conditional picks.

Without taking on Ryan, the cost to obtain Duchene and Stone would be significantly higher. You are getting at worst a #2C, and a Top pairing winger for what are essentially spare parts for Carolina. Of course the parts all have value, but they aren't needed now, and the addition of these three guys has to make you a serious contender in the East. I say this as Leafs fan....

Are you for real?

McDavid must be a bust because the Oilers just had another horrible season.

Given they can probably land Duchene for the price of his plane ticket, he's probably the guy.

I can’t foresee a better fit and given the poor return for EK, Canes should toss a low ball offer. Duchene is playing for a new deal anyways, so he will try to light it up.

However, given they dumped Skinner due to impending UFA, not sure if they would want Duchene without an extension.

He hasn't cracked 60 points in the last four years and he's once scored 30, just 30, didn't even break 30

He's so overrated but cool that you think he's McDavid

So why did you quote with team win/loss records?:

"I'd love to see Duchene in Carolina for the next rebuild (he's not the guy that moves the needle)"

You accused an inability to impact the team, so this also reflects on someone like McDavid that would also be considered a bust. Oilers significantly regressed and not expected to be much better this season. If you dislike Duchene don't cherry pick team win/loss records to justify your obvious bias.
