That's unfortunate the game has it's warts but overall is getting closer to the feel of real hockey. I think you'd enjoy it but I won't put any unecessary pressure on you...Just do it. :sarcasm:

I figure a PS5 is due out eventually. Maybe then.

Either way, I haven't played a single video game, not just NHL, ANY game in 5 years. Like, I haven't even played at a friend's house or anything. Zero.

I would be very far removed from how I used to play.

Not technically a video game, but has anyone here tried any good simulation leagues? Simon T Hockey Simulator driven I mean.
I've been using one lately for hockey, and it's been great (SHL, don't want to link here in case it's seen as spam).

I can't seem to find one for soccer though. If anyone has any idea, let me know, especially if it offers a be a player type experience.

Could I find somewhere what type of gamer am I? Like a persona marketing stuff... Where I could answer to some questions. And have the result after.

Guess the first question would be: are you someone trying to get into gaming, or are you already into it somewhat and are looking for something more specific?

Ultimate Soccer League Manager series circa 98-99 are probably the most best built simulators I have ever played in any genre. Seriously.

It's like I'm stuck with sports games. I haven't tried something else.

There are some sports simulation games like Football Manager 20xx or Franchise Hockey Manager/Eastside Hockey Manager if you want something more...intellectual?

Otherwise, I couldn't find a proper guide of sorts, so it will really come down to what your preferences are. Are you a competitive type, or do prefer to kick back and relax? Do you prefer playing as a singular character/entity, or do you like controlling a machine of sorts, i.e. a sports team or a country's military? How much does story matter? Play alone or play with others?

We don't have a formal OT section so bear with me.

If you fancy a intense, atmospheric and adrenaline-pumping blast in a dwarven space mining team and like the idea of Starship Troopers bug hordes meets the claustrophobic firefights of Alien 2 meets a bit of Minecraft with tongue firmly in cheek , it's still on Steam sale.

Up to 4 player Co-Op but still hugely playable solo, I'm having a blast with it and heartily recommend it - especially at a sale price.

No, I'm not commercially involved in the project - I wish I was :)

I have a tough time getting into video games now, I seem to never finish them. But of those that I tried this year Disco Elysium was the most interesting. Great dialogs, crazy world. You gotta read a whole lot though, it's a mix between a novel and a video game. I plan on getting back to it to finish it at some point.

Otherwise, I've been playing Rocket League for a while, but still not that good at it. I'm good on the ground but can't do anything in the air. Anyway I like it a lot, probably the game I'd say is "my" game for the past couple of years.

The stay at home periods had me revisit an old friend of mine, GT6 on PS3. I'm only driving cars that I think will make it to post-virus era lol no Beemers or Mercs...... you guys are pooped for spare parts over the next few.

Bought a wheel and pedals and enjoying some Dirt rally 2.0 and asseto corsa.

Also like Escape from Tarkov, pretty neat milsim style shooter RPG.

Asseto Corsa is amazing, but there's only so much one can do without a wheel and pedal kit. Now isn't the time for me to swing that purchase through local domestic clearance ;-)

Dirt is nice. Sometimes though you just need to ram someone into a tree which is where wreckfest comes in. Most fun I've had in a racing game.

I recreated my hockey dynasty pool teams in NHL 19, and have been streaming some of the games and making highlight videos, and other stuff.... I’ve got the time these days
I wrote about it in the hockey clips thread but maybe this is a better place ( I didn’t see a video games thread yesterday).
Here’s a fake sportscenter type clip I made

I’ve been watching our games like it’s real hockey. and I’m emotionally invested in my team, so it’s fun.

Yeah it’s a totally different experience. The logitech g29 kit is pretty good for the price, especially if you can find it on kijiji or something.

Yeah will probably download a few games more on the arcady side. But I enjoy the challenge of simulators, pretty difficult.

Wreckfest controls like a sim or at least very close to it when you disable assists. Seriously the controls tight and the wheel support is great. It's not iRacing or Dirt but I find it really satisfying and I dislike most arcade racers.

Haven't played in a while but man was it ever fun online. Dodging the big cars on a hotwheels track in a little Escort Mk2 is extremely tense lol.

Will definitely try it out! Seems like a lot of fun. Plenty of time on our hands :D
