Yeah, well, then again I think Tierney currently has more value than Tatar.
Ya I mean its definitely debatable. Tierney is a young center who's coming off a career year, had 17 goals. He should only get better. Tatar has hit 20 each year he's played in the NHL if I'm not mistake and I think could thrive in a new setting but he has a sketchy aura about his Vegas stint. Time will tell but ya

Not a bad return for Patches if you're looking at the EK return

Tierney = Tatar
2nd =2nd
Norris = Suzuki
1st
DeMelo

Ottawa gets an NHL roster defenceman and a 2020 First rounder extra for an elite defenceman.

Tierney is more valuable than Tatar and Suzuki is considered a better prospect than Norris.

I loved that Montreal is getting another Center Suzuki to add to Kotkaniemi. The Habs future just got a lot brighter this summer.

I was in Montreal just a few weeks ago. I can already imagine the buzz around the Bell Center. Great hockey town.

Also think
Tierney > Tatar
Norris < Suzuki

All in all, that's unexpectedly better return for Patches compared to what EK returned. But yeah, Dorion probably can't do a thing without the approbation of knot-specialist Melnyk.

Tierney is insanely overrated, Tatar is the better player and he's much more proven than him (not only backed by his advanced stats and play in the past, this is also backed by the packaged he fetched last season). Tatar went on a 20-30 game slump in Vegas, that doesn't make Tierney more valuable than him.

Suzuki is a top prospect, he's a legit A prospect. Norris is a nothing prospect compared to Suzuki, Norris is comparable to Bowers who Ottawa traded for Duchene.. Demelo/Balcers are write offs and SJ's 1st and 2nd will be late round picks.

I take Pacioretty's package over Karlsson's any day of the week. Pacioretty isn't half the player Karlsson is and he just had a brutal season.

Tierney just outscored Tatar last year, is four years younger, considerably cheaper and plays the more important position. There's not much to support that Tatar has more value right now. Suzuki is very easily a better prospect than Norris and DeMelo is a nothing piece, sure, but Balcers is interesting to some extent and a 1st is always a good asset. The Sens definitely got hosed but I feel you're exaggerating it quite a bit, Patches didn't fetch a better return than Karlsson (but the returns are much closer to each other than they should've been).

I might too. But I'm no GM caliber.

Tierney has less term and less AAV (but still RFA). I just feel Tatar won't be able to do himself justice with whatever center he'll play with. Tierney could have made Drouin a winger this year. I still think that, from a habs perspective Tierney > Tatar. From an overall perspective, I agree Tatar probably has better value. I like Suzuki more than SJS 2020 1st though I don't really know what a mid 1st is gonna look like in 2020.

Patches probably made it clear that it was a trade-and-sign deal while
EK will go through the UFA process (and it was made clear with any negociating GM) otherwise I can't understand the return.

Tatar was a cap dump.

ok because he's now an Habs, Tatar isnt worth Tierney?

Even if he has negative value, I take Tatar before Tierney anytime. We'll fix this on ice soon guys. Its only thing to fix on our team...

Cap dump that average 22 goals per yr for his last 5 yrs and is only 27.
Lay some more cap dumps on us please.
Can't deny stats but this is the glass half-full way of looking at it. The other way to look at it is that he is a 5'10" 0.41 PPG -19 player that still has 3 years left at 4.8M cap hit being moved to an offensively anemic team.

The latter sounds like a cap dump no?

Man am I glad Pacioretty was traded prior to Karlsson.

After what Ottawa got for EK, Imagine what Vegas would offer for Max Pac. LOL
I disagree. I don't think the two trades have any relations as they fill much different needs. To top it off, I would not use any of Dorion's trades as a reference to dictate market value. Whether buying or selling, he has failed every time to maximize returns.

Hating on Bergevin is my passion but Patch return is 100% better.
