I wonder if he played on a line with Nino in Minnesota.
Svech - Aho - forward acquisition
NN - Haula - TT
Marleau - Staal - Willy
Mcginn - Wallmark - Martinook
Fogele Necas as the extras to rotate.

Haula played all of the forward positions for Vegas. not sure its automatic that he'll slot in as a center here tbh.

I agree he seems to be an ideal fit with Necas and Foegele, but I think to get the most out of that you might want Necas at center. the PP production is very promising, and he has that quick trigger on short passes that Ferland had. tons of one-timer goals in that first season with Vegas.

good faceoff guy as well, so he could help ease Necas in on that front, even if Necas is at the pivot. really good fit all around.

Rumor? I thought that was just Edmonton media speculating on possibilities? Is there a credible rumor?

I say rumor b/c it came from one of our most trusted insiders. He only mentioned Gauthiers name and didn't say anything definitive, that is correct...however

He also dropped some hints about us drafting Broberg way before it got legs

Also, I'm pretty sure I saw an int w/ either JP or his agent saying something along the lines of a trade was pending bt waiting on other things to materialize

Who knows tho.

Ok thanks for clarifying. Just speculation, not a credible rumor then.

Looks like he scores 3 kinds of goals. Titled like Friends episodes:

- The Ones Where His Linemates Do All The Work And He Shoots It Into An Empty Net

- The Ones Where He Camps In Front For A Tip-In

- The Ones Where He Blazes Down The Wing And Snipes It

Unfortunately it looks like a ton of them were in that first category, and there’s just no accounting for a weird season where you pick up a dozen wide open gimme goals. Replicating anything close to that on this team feels like a stretch.

The positive side is that he’ll have a TON of chances to score the other 2 ways with the Canes. We don’t have a lot of guys who can just rip it past the goalie in stride, so that’s a big add. And a guy who excels at tip-ins should thrive with Hamilton and Faulk.

Also there were some ENGs in there, which means he was getting defensive ice time in the final minutes. Another good sign.

I’m thinking he’s more of a 15-20 goal scorer here, but a nice stylistic fit who can free us up to move some other guys around the lineup.

At least he's putting himself in the right spot to take advantage of his linemates doing the work. That is an underrated skill. If it were so easy, every player would be doing it.

That was a sweet, sweet trade for you, my friends in the Finnish Enclave of South Carolina ;)
Uh oh, you're going to make everyone mad
