It's more than just being the #6 it's playing with a rookie. He needs stability from his partner. And Sandin needs stability. That pair just doesn't mesh.
See I can accept that reasoning for a player like Rielly who’s offence and puck moving capabilities drastically outweigh his shortcomings defensively. Going out of the way to give him a stable partner makes sense. You give Ceci a stable partner what happens? At best his shortcomings are made up for and his impact on the game is negligible. At worse Ceci drags down said steady partner and the impact that player could have playing with someone capable is lost.
Ceci just isn’t worth playing. He does nothing well but worse than that he hurts the team.
