I think Mazanec is like 27yrs old. That is pretty much all you need to know about him regarding his potential to carry your team. This is purely a stop gap measure.
Wow. 4 hours ago!Season ending Achilles injury:
Canucks' Richard Bachman: Out for the season
Dipietro must of been that bad for the Canucks to do this.
DiPietro was a teen playing his first game in the NHL against a top team, who wasn't even supposed to play (got the start, and wasn't pulled, as a precaution for Markstrom).Dipietro must of been that bad for the Canucks to do this.

The Canucks never intended their 19 year old emergency call up prospect to play at all, let alone for any length of time.
Yeah, but at what cost? AT WHAT COST!!!!!We will own the entire 7th round in 2020!
In 1992 a 27 year old nobody was traded from Chicago to Buffalo. Today we call that nobody Dominik Hasek. Just saying.I think Mazanec is like 27yrs old. That is pretty much all you need to know about him regarding his potential to carry your team. This is purely a stop gap measure.
Outside of a very small number of wunderkinds, you'd be hard pressed to name another goalie who stepped in as a teenager and turned in a masterful performance in his debut. Hart's close, but already 20.
Trying to think of the last teenager to make his NHL debut in goal, and succeed.
Hasek was at least backup on a decent Blackhawks team, behind Belfour, and played in the Stanley Cup finals (and had had a successful Czech career before then that he was known a little bit for).In 1992 a 27 year old nobody was traded from Chicago to Buffalo. Oh, don't get me wrong. He's hot garbage. I think there's zero percent chance he goes Hasek and turns into a player, but it has happened.Hasek was at least backup on a decent Blackhawks team, behind Belfour, and played in the Stanley Cup finals (and had had a successful Czech career before then that he was known a little bit for).
Mazanec, not to take anything away from him, has been a split-starter on a bottom feeder AHL team (and had a short career in Czechia first too, though!)

I don’t understand why Benning gave up an asset instead of signing a goalie out of the AHL. Mazanec isn’t much better, if at all, than the player they’d get from going that route.
I thought DiPietro earned another start.
There was also, you know, that pesky Iron Curtain.Hasek was at least backup on a decent Blackhawks team, behind Belfour, and played in the Stanley Cup finals (and had had a successful Czech career before then that he was known a little bit for).
