EV With Barrie on the ice:
1204.35 TOI
61GF (3.04 GF/60)
65GA (3.24 GF/60)

EV With Barrie off the ice:
Aprox 2627.5 TOI
96GF (2.19 GF/60)
81GA (1.85 GA/60)

Given Barrie's soft usage mostly in Ozone situations behind Auston Matthews, you'd expect the higher GF/60, but the significantly higher GA/60 is just austonding and inexcusible.

thanks for those stats

He looks like he's handling a grenade every time he touches the puck

I shouldn't be cringing every time I see him rush up the ice or circle in our end, but do - at least Jake had an excuse (bad back, bad IQ), but Barrie has none

Don’t forgot too, Matthews and JT are 55 percent on the dot, further inflating his stats. This fact doesn’t get mentioned enough, he starts with a significant advantage, every possession analysis says you see impact based on face offs for the first 20 seconds of a shift. Barrie is a statistical mirage imho, in so many ways.

Who taught this guy how to play defense? Literally every single 2 on 1 rush he just mindlessly stands in the middle. He doesn't take away the pass or the shot. Both options become available every time and he's just caught in no man's land

I've literally seen this 8+ times

Here's something to watch, I find intriguing. When the opposing team has the puck behind our net, Barrie stationed out front, note how Barrie has no awareness whatsoever of any player that may be behind him or moving towards our net. His lack of recognition, for a guy who's played this long in the league, amazes me. His hockey IQ defensively is that of a green rookie.

I think he's been taught fine. I just don't think he's a good student. Dude thinks the game really slow.

I don't know him or his background but I would bet he was a centre his whole life like Gards who got switched to D.

He was listed as a defender in his WHL days. Funny enough he was on a team with Bozak and the two Benn brothers in the BCHL for a few playoff games

I don't know but he plays D like a centre does. A D needs to be watching and reading like every millisecond. Barrie waits for someone else to do the hard work and then expects da pass to him.
