Yes usually called Police aided suicide (or Suicide by Cop) The most memorable (for me anyways) where a person tried to take a machete to the cops and was demanding them to shoot him instead the Cops tazered him and arrested him.

This could have been similar to how it played out, I read he was tazerd (whatever the word is), could be wrong after how bad CNN has apparently been.
