The dude's just being honest. The quality of play has been like preseason but the games count. It's weird.

Goalies need a selfish mentality. They can do everything in their power but will get hung out to dry at times, and still get blamed. He ain't helping himself but I'm not gunna make a deal of it.

Honestly, I appreciate Rask's honesty. Speaking solely for myself, this playoff seems more like being in the NIT, rather than the sweet sixteen.
The team as a whole is off it seems. The pack mentality team D hasn't been there from the restart.
To let Hamilton come straight off Broadway to step into the game winner was simply inexplicable for a team that won the Jennings.

Are we sure it was Rask and not Ritchie that made those comments?

difference here is MAF hasn’t been very good this year. Halak wasn’t good in his playin start and Rask handedly outplayed him in both the playin and regular season.

Completely... not saying Halak deserves to play over Rask... just saying the comments concern me a bit and we do have a capable back up should we want to at least give him a game or two.

I'd like to hear anyone defend comments like this. Shit like this is why this guy will never win a damn thing.

How do you define "damn thing"? He's won just about every individual award a goalie can win. He's won a vezina. He's won more games than any other bruins goalie ever. He's won enough playoff games to get to the finals twice....

Can we please play Halak and move on from Rask. There is a reason he has won nothing as a starting goalie

Again with this crap. Nothing? See above. You can say he hasn't won a cup as a starter yet, but "nothing" is ridiculous.

He has always been and always will be a great goalie when there is no pressure and a choker when it matters

Define "when it matters"?

He has some of the best playoff numbers in nhl history. I guess the playoffs don't matter. Zero pressure there (your words).

he's 8-0 with a 0.815GAA and 0.972sv% in the conference finals. but that doesn't count because it doesn't fit the narrative

Being among the worst goalies in the league when facing elimination.

Got any numbers to back that up?

Doesn't seem right to me.
This one doesn't have this year. I'm keeping track on the main board with numbers added for this year though.

Thanks!

You're right, bad save percentage.

But still, 6-6.

Looks like Bs should go to Halak if they get to elimination game.

Any list that has rask below guys that have never even made it to a conference final, much less multiple Stanley cup finals is a joke.....and you know it.

But hey. Keep on penalizing rask for sweeping teams and not facing elimination games. Gotta keep that narrative going I guess.

He's been given strong goal support in those games at 3.25 goals per game.

2010 Flyers Game 7 - 3
2013 Leafs Game 7 - 5
2013 Blackhawks Game 6 - 2
2014 Canadiens Game 7 - 1
2017 Senators Game 5 - 3
2017 Senators Game 6 - 2
2018 Leafs Game 7 - 7
2018 Lightning Game 5 - 1
2019 Leafs Game 6 - 4
2019 Leafs Game 7 - 5
2019 Blues Game 6 - 5
2019 Blues Game 7 - 1

3.25 goals per game when the best average for a team this decade is 3.

ah ha. Break that down to GF in wins and GF in losses and it gets very interesting. they scored 24 goals im the 6 wins and 10 in the 6 losses. so they scored less than 2 per game in the losses. pretty hard to fault the guy there. In fact the most the scored in any of the losses is 3, and that was that f***ed up Flyers game when half the lineup was AHLers

EDIT: oops missed a 5 goal game in the win column. 29 goals for in wins

Bad way to look at it, what is his goal support in his Losses vs his wins is better methodology

They were up 3-0 against the Flyers in 2010 and 1-0 to the Lightning in 2018. They were up 1-0 to the Sens in 2017 and tied it up in the 3rd to send it to OT. The 2013 Hawks game is tough to forget up 2-1 late. Canadiens 2014 the rhetoric was offense disappearing, it was 2-1 Habs at the end of 2. Bruins dominated the Blues for play in the 1st period and then Rask gave up two back-breaking goals at the end of the 1st.

Do your research if you actually want to have a debate.

I'm fine putting Halak in for a couple games mostly due to the amount of hockey in a short amount of time. However he did not look great against Philly, he's older than Rask and hasn't played in months so I'm not sure what level of goaltending we'd be getting. I don't know why people are acting like Halak would be giving us Vezina level goaltending.

Listen, I'm a Rask guy... but if you aren't concerned he said what he said, I don't know what to tell you. That is not what I would want to hear if I was his teammates, his coaches, his GM.... and as a fan, I sure as f*** don't want to hear it.

Completely agree. If that is how he feels, coupled with his performance I would strongly be considering putting in Halak for the rest of the playoffs.

The Bruins scored 1.6667 goals/game in elimination games they've lost when Rask is in net, and yet it's mainly his fault?

Of course it is because he doesn't say the things with the proper amount of angst in his voice and consternation on his face in a presser

It's his consistent failure in these situations. Wins/losses are ultimately a team result, and Rask, relative to his peers, is very poor in these situations. I've already shown you the Bruins gave him a lead to work with in different games they ended up losing. If they don't have an absolute miracle comeback in 2013 (no thanks to Rask), we're talking about win/loss splits completely differently anyways.

He has no response to that.

Instead he'll keep pointing to games in 2010 when the injury bug hit. Or others we lost because the injuries got so bad we literally had to ice tommy cross. Tommy Cross.

Trap has no interest in context. All playoff losses are rask's fault. Period.

you're right. he defintely needs to contribute more offense in those situations to help the team out.
are we playing the what if game? Because there's lots of those the other way too. Daugavins.
