Because these particular Sabres posters aren't even good at evaluating Sabres players let alone players on other teams. I'm of the belief that half the Sabres posters on this board haven't watched another team play Hockey in the last 10 years. It would explain why they have so much blind optimism about their team. They haven't see what real NHL teams are supposed to look like. Probably still believe Kyle Turris is 23 years old.

Uh huh... Sure thing champ... Im of the belief that you're coming across as a condescending a-hole w/ a Pretty clueless take on the Sabres "ever-optimistic fan base"... Have you even watched a Sabres game in the last 5yrs? We suck, our core sucks, we have 9 NHL dmen yet our fwd depth sucks, outside of Cozens even our pool is lousy... no 2 ways about it, Turris would be the 2nd best C on our roster. Granlund would be our 2nd best RW... Unless of course you're a big Vesey or Sobotka fan?

If Turris doesn't want to play wing, has Joey and Duchene in front of him as top6 centers, Bonino being a leading goal scorer at 3C and Sissons as a better fit on 4th line....where do you play? You don't.

He's on a 39pt pace with bottom 6 minutes (an average of 13:34 ice time per game), so it's not like he's useless. Must be something else cooking.

Should anyone really be surprised? He's only ever played for himself. What happened was he hit the UFA market at a young age and cashed in. Whatever little desire he had has now died.

Except that's not really it, is it? Again, he broke his foot twice and came back playing with broken ribs last year, he looked better this year now that he's healthy. Yes, he's not the best no.2 center in the league, but he has been and still can be a solid 50 point center for a team that needs one.

I think Turris could fit in well with the Canucks, especially if they can get Eriksson to go the other way.
I know the Canucks have depth at C, but we've seen what happens when one or two guys go down.

LOL huge reach on the part of Preds fans here. He's abysmal with an even worse contract.

Last year when he was playing injured, yes he was abysmal. Barely an AHLer, since then he's been healthy and has played well enough. He's got no real role in the line-up. I think he'll be dealt to a team that needs center depth for a vet defender.

Who would have thought Nashville would be the bigger losers of that trade.

The trade was fine, we traded a prospect that came out of nowhere in camp and only played five games with us and Kamenev, who is just now getting his shot six years after being drafted.

Girard still doesn't play above Josi or Ekholm on the left side if he's in Nashville/Milwaukee, we sold high.

The problem was the contract. Give Turris a contract like Craig Smith and it's fine, instead Poile trades for him and immediately gives him 6.

Turris is a great player to target if you can get him for practically nothing, or salary retained.

He's not old, he's had productive stretches with the Preds, he had like 5-6 years straight with 50-60 level of point production unti last year.

If the fit and ice time with the Preds isn't there, then it isn't there. Can't expect miracles to happen.

I cannot believe the ignorance of some posters on this subject. Turris just simply doesn’t have a roster spot in Nashville. With Joey, Duchene, Bonino and Sissons he simply doesn’t have a spot to play. And with awful linemates and barely any ice time he’s still almost averaging a point every other game.
Turris has always put up 50ish points and at $6 million a year that’s a good deal. He had one bad season and that was last season and he had more than one major injury. Unfortunately for Kyle, we signed Duchene this offseason and he simply doesn’t have a spot now. He is healthy and is a fifty point centre.

People suggesting we trade him for Nielsen, Eriksson or Lucic or whatever are crazy. Those guys have been awful for years, Turris has not.

I can’t wait to post about the trade that eventually happens and we get value for him. Gonna be great.

Why would you do that?
You realize that you can get Turris for a conditional 7th?
And do you really believe that Granlund is the best you can do for Risto?
You most definitely can NOT get Turris for a conditional 7th. I'd trade him for a high-ish 2nd. But that's the lower end on draft picks. He's not getting traded for a draft pick, for sure.

Turris actually fits the flames needs. Middle 6 center with a RHS.

This may be crazy, but what kind of sweetener would it take for Nashville to take Lucic for Turris. The extra years on Turris' deal might make it closer than you think.
There is no sweetener possible. Turris is still positive value for us. We will not take Lucic, period. (Or rather, you would have to give us so much that it becomes ridiculous and impossible).
