Honestly there's no right decision, they were caught between a rock and a hard place. Too much time left where the Chiefs would have a great shot to win with a miss, but too little time left to get the ball back again if you did punt. Playing to win is basically a wing and a prayer, even for McManus a 62-yard FG is maybe a 5% at best chance. And going to 7-3-1 would put them in better position for a playoff spot though a worse one for the division title obviously.
