25 in 1 year or 6 or more in multiple years. Kap played more than 6 games both the past 2 years so is not longer considered a rookie.

But yeah apparently that's not it and the article's cutoff is just stupid. 10 of less games with the Leafs. If we sign Shattenkirk does TSN consider him a prospect? Whatever the cutoff it should be relating to time in the league or games regardless of whether they're with the Leafs or not.

Yup, the most stupid part is that the criteria is 10 games as Leaf and not in the NHL...
So Kerby Rychel who is 2 years older and has played 20 more games than Kap is a prospect, but Kasperi is not...

Grundstrom will be the most effective forward, Dermott the best D. It's a toss up on who I would rank #1, but I'm leaning towards Grundstrom.

Nothing against Kristen Shilton because I like her work.

But she has no idea what she is talking about at all.

Clearly she has not seen many of these players even once, and should stick to her job with the big club. Leaving Korshkov off, when he could step in and put up 40 points next year is just something else...

How many Leafs fans who pump Korshkov's tires have actually seen him play?

I have seen him play a few KHL streams and seen a lot of highlights from this year. I think he is between Kappy and Grundstrom, pretty scary if he puts on 10-15lbs,

As you can see Hunter has had quite a bit more to work with in 2 years than the 3 years previous. More picks and better quality. 8 picks in the top 75 vs just 3 in the top 75. I don't think its ridiculous to say Hunters drafting hasnt been great. Its too early to say its been bad.

Let's wait two more years before judging on Hunter's picks. Players take different time to develop, maybe Tima didn't play as well as expected as the others last season, but it doesn't mean he sucks. It just means that he might takes a while longer to develop. I know Hunter didn't draft Brown, but look at how Shanny and company are developing him. They didn't rush and call him up during in 2014 and 2015(although he was injured), instead they let him develop more with the Marlies as it is much better for him to play 15+mins a game instead 7-8mins in the NHL.

Think Marner is the only one who didn't play any professional leagues that is on the roster.

It's telling how shallow our prospect pool is when you can sign 2 Euro UFA's and they immediately become part of our top 5 .

This may be Hunter's most important year yet, shallow prospect pool + mid round picks, makes for a tough draft for him. We really need to get lucky with a few picks/trades if this team is going to become elite.

Timashov gets no love. Should get back in the list this year when hes not getting 4th line minutes. Expect a big year from him.

Exactly this. The majority of a player's game is never caught on camera. Without recording their entire game (note 'their' nor 'the') so much of their abilities and skills are missed. Its why im absolutely certain that video scouting will never completely replace live scouting.

While it's admirable that so many here out so much research into these kids, in most cases they are still very much doing based on tiny sample pieces of highlights.

Interesting info. A little more than the typical bandwagon stuff.

I'm intrigued at how many goalies Carolina drafts not to mention the success rate they have finding good d-men.

It's debateable whether Rosen & Borgmen even belong in the top 5. They were also sought after by many teams so they are legit prospects.

Kapanen should still be viewed as a prospect. In addition to MNM we also graduated Hyman, Brown, Carrick, Soshnikov, Gauthier and Zaitsev (if you classified him as a rookie). That's a ton of depth.

The author may have been blinded by her shiny new toys, I find that happens a lot with most fan bases and local sports media, anything new is better than anything we currently have. Which in my mind tells me that either the author has no clue or our prospect pool is very shallow.

It might partly be the shiny new toy syndrome also known as recency bias.

The author also isn't a scout and makes no mention of how she formulated her list.

I viewed it more as the author overrating prospects that are older who should be further along in their development. Prospects 2-6 are all 22 or 23 years old: Leipsic (23), Rychel (22), Rosen (23), Borgman (22), Johnson (22).

All the players from the two drafts Hunter has run for us are 20 or under and for the most part I think should be rated far higher cause of potential upside.

Grundstrom should definitely he higher in the list. Korshkov somehow didn't even make the top 10 which is a huge mistake. I also like the potential upside of all of Bracco, Woll, Greenway, Nielsen.

Don't forget we only a few of these guys to turn into quality NHLers for our prospect pool to have been a success.

The author also excludes Kapanen & Gauthier who in my eyes are still prospects with her criteria.

All in all I take the article with a grain of salt.
