Where did the media dump on Baertschi?...Yes, he had multiple concussions ,and he lost his spot to Tanner Pearson..The quality of the top 6 just got better, and Green didn't want him in the bottom 6...I dont think his agent played his hand very well either....The media just reported the news, I don't recall any 'negativity' about his play.

My .02 cents.. Anyway,..dont want to derail this thread as it is a a NT thread.
Totally agree with this.....Sven's NHL career may be on hold for the time being......but just getting back on the ice after suffering a series of frightening concussions, is a testament to his determination. And the guy has gone to Utica and played out of his mind, being a mentor to some of the kids the Canucks have in Utica.

I have no idea what the future holds for Sven. Benning had hinted that he might be able to move him sometime around the draft, after failing to do so before the trade deadline.

But Baertschi is a guy you really pull for. If it doesn't happen here, he might be a target in the expansion draft. But you really hope that he can stay healthy and resume his NHL career somewhere.

When he decked Jamie Benn then fought him.
I thought this guy was IT.

Everyone else in here probably knows more about how he has been doing since he left.
But Stecher and Tryamkin sounds pretty enticing.
I think Tree will be the cheaper replacement for Tanev, and Rafferty will be the cheaper replacement for Stecher. We will save about 4-5 million off the cap that way.

Agreed....but what hurts is that these are really 'heart and soul' kind of guys. And jettisoning just one contract off the third and fourth lines, would give that same amount of cap savings and more.

Tanev will cost 5.5 and Stecher will be 2.5, so that’s 8 million. Rafferty and Tree will total at least 5 million less. We already need to resign Marky and keeping Tofoli would be nice. We need to dump more than just one Sutter, or Beagle to get the room. It’s got to be the ugly four who go: Loui, Sutter, Baer, Beagle (I’d add Myers too, but that’s impossible)

Agreed. We have to dump at least two of those contracts.
I'd say bury Ericksson, buyout Sutter and trade Baertschi (obviously along with a sweetener)
That would save us roughly $6.6 million next year, hopefully enough to resign Tanev and Toffoli.

Maybe something like
Hughes-Tryamkin
Edler-Rafferty
Myers-Juolevi/Woo/Fanta/Benn/UFA?

That defence is so f***ing bad. Juolevi/Woo are nowhere near ready for NHL action. Let's not get into the fact that 2 of the top 4 Dmen in this projection are huge question marks at the NHL level.

If the NHL is on hold until close to the end of April, wondering if Tryamkin becomes a consideration? His KHL contract officially ends on April 30th.

I'm sure Tryamkin's agent Todd Diamond and the player would be interested in earning some serious money even for an abbreviated NHL schedule.

isn't the issue .. How much will Stecher be asking for...?...He's probably overqualified to be a bottom pairing d-man?
Is that not the figure being discussed? If not, what do we think he signs at?

He's a 4/5 in my book but coming off a less than impressive season, not sure he actually commands significantly more than that. I also wouldn't call 2.5 million bottom pairing money. I'd rather keep him than Tanev at any deal 3 years or more.

What do people think Tryamkin gets if he signs?

No he does not. He is not allowed to play for the Canucks this season. And even if he was, the Canucks wouldn't have the cap space.

Have to be careful what we wish for. I think Rafferty has a lot of potential but we have no idea how sustainable his level of play is at the NHL level. He could turn out to be another Philip Larsen. Tryamkin is a complete wildcard both on whether he comes and how well he plays if he comes. I'd be very nervous going into a season with a right side of Myers, Tryamkin and Rafferty.

Are there some quotes or actual evidence that Tryamkin thought he was entitled to top pairing minutes without earning them? Where does this come from, aside from inferences that aren't concrete?

All I saw was a player that didn't enjoy playing for a racist coach (we saw how WD treated other Russians with Goldobin and Kovalchuk), didn't like the city, and his wife didn't like the city either. I think those 3 reasons are the bulk of why he left. Obviously playing on one of the worst rosters in the league didn't make things better either.

So now Willie D. is a "racist" coach because he didn't fawn all over the useless Goldobin (guess Green is even more racist since Goldy isn't even up with the big team), didn't gift the lazy overweight Tryamkin with big minutes and couldn't figure out how to motivate the skating cancer that is Kovalchuk? The hate here is reaching for new lows it seems...

From all the evidence we have available, WD clearly didn't like Russians. He benched Goldy after his first goal as a Canuck. He played Kovalchuk on the 4th line with minimal PP time even though he led LA in points and was clearly a PP/offensive specialist (similar to Vanek's role while he was here).

My god. The day we trade Tryamkins rights for peanuts , will be a good day. The 2 camps haven’t even talked. He’s not coming back. Reports are he won’t sign with Canucks if he does come back. Doesn’t like the organization. After all this, he’s barely an NHL player. Who cares. Leave the bum in the KHL.

I am the other side of the fence. Sorry Johnny, but this one of the most ignorant posts ever. He will be a decent if not good NHLer. The 2 camps have talked. He is coming back. Hopefully with the Canucks (whom I don't even think you like from your posts) and will be an important part for years.

He has the potential to be part of the top pieces of a powerhouse. Yes, the Canucks. Hughes, EP, Tryamkin, Horvat, Markstrom, Boeser and add in Podkolzin, that will be one of the best cores in the NHL in a couple of years. Maybe even Hoglander is great.

If they had a management team who knew how to handle the cap we would be in very good shape.

The season was suspended three days ago, Tryamkin's season ended 5 days ago, and it's probably impossible for anyone involved to physically travel to meet.

Reports are he won’t sign with Canucks if he does come back.
No such reports exist, and the ones that do exist say the opposite.

He has two high ankle sprains
Really? That might actually be serious. How long do you think it'll take for them to heal?

I have no idea how good or mediocre Tryamkin is at this point in his career.....after all, it's been three years since we've seen him, and and he was playing on one of the worst Canuck teams in the last decade during Willie D's final year as coach.

But I feel safe in saying he'd be a big upgrade on Fantenberg and Benn, and probably even Stecher. And assuming he can stay healthy for an 82 game schedule, then that probably puts him ahead of even Tanev as a reliable everyday d-man. Because up until this season, Tanev hasn't been able to play for much more than 50 games a season

And when you stop to reflect that both Myers and Edler are over 30, then the Canucks blueline is basically a blank canvas for the coming few seasons, particularly after Edler retires.

So the only likely scenarios for me is that Tryamkin signs with the Canucks....or re-ups in the KHL. The likelihood of the Canucks trading his rights to another NHL team is virtually 'zero'.
