 Jets are in the drivers seat? What if Trouba makes it known that he'll only sign long term with Detroit or Florida, Then Chevy has very little leverage there. When only two teams are bidding on his services. And any other team are just one year rentals. Winnipeg isn't in the drivers seat here. Trouba obviously is as he pretty much has a say where he winds up if he signs a long term extension because that list is probably pretty small.
Yup, as long as there are two teams that want him. The Jets are in the driver's seat and can move him for pieces they want.

Can a Red wings fan explain to me how Trouba with 1 year left before UFA who coming off a 50 point season is supposed to have this terrible value, but AA, a winger coming off a 54 point year, who has 2 years left before UFA is supposed to be this asset that Jets fans are drooling over?

If there are truly just two-three teams where he wants to sign that will definitely lower his market price. Smaller market, less competition, lower prices. And in the case of Florida it's going to be really tough to fit him if we are going for Panarin and Bob so that's going to narrow the options even more.

Good laugh.

Everybody is a crap producer with Winnipeg's 2nd power-play forwards.

Jets have never really tested him as a 1st PP producer, because they want to control his RFA caphit using Byfuglien as the 1st PP quarterback. Because it has been ideal, because Buff is signed for big bucks. But Trouba isn't any worse than him. It's just because it was favorable and smart to control caphits that way.

Now you are gonna lose the player on a losing trade, because he will want a fair change, which was never given.

This is all Suter-Weber 2.0. Equal guys, but other suffers because you have to favor the other.
Buff is superior to Trouba on the PP. There has been no reason to remove Buff from PP1 with its success.

Trouba put up points in Buff's absence on PP1 but It didn't look pretty, let's just say that lol. Both players were of the best producers league wide on the PP though from a points efficiency standpoint.

AA the third liner would be 4th on your team in scoring this year.
Well he can't beat out Laine, he can't beat out Wheeler, he can't beat out Ehlers and he can't beat out Connor. So, yeah 3rd liner, it doesn't matter AA got points on a team that has nothing else. He won't get the same chances in Winnipeg as he's not good enough to beat out the wingers above.

Just accept that the AA deal would be turned down and move on.

Sure. Just as soon as you accept that you're not getting a deal the level of 6OA+.

And yes, AA wont get the chance to have line mates like Glendening and Helm in Winnipeg.

Possibly yes. However, as long as there is more than one team the Jets won't have to settle for something they don't want.

Because your guy has basically made it know he doesn't want to be there and apparently will only consider signing long term with a few teams. I'm sure you're aware this type of scenario generally doesn't go very well for the team in Winnipeg's position. It's not impossible that you'll get a fair return but definitely unlikely.

This is pretty much what i was eluding to also, If true Tallon is heavily going after both Bobrovsky and Panarin. Doubt he can afford Trouba as well. Without moving out more expensive contracts.

Not saying you're not getting value back but if there are only two teams bidding maybe they don't even have what you would exactly want. Again, if it's a small market.

Not sure why anyone would assume two teams only......that’s like me assuming my retirement plan is winning the lottery. Even if we assume rumours are true......eastern based American teams would/could easily mean Wings, Bolts, Panthers, Flyers and Rangers......only takes two bidders to get a good return. It’s in all parties (including Trouba) to work out a trade & sign deal before any arbitration hearing this summer.

Possibly yes. Hard to say at this point as we don’t even know what teams are involved. But the Jets would at least have the choice between two offers, so they wouldn’t be stuck taking random players they have no use for.

Jets will likely lose Myers to UFA, and with Laine, Connor AND Trouba to re-sign they might need to make a big move. I think Connor is the least likely of the 3 to go.

Mathieu Perreault and Dmitry Kulikov would clear a lot of cap space if traded/bought out

Ehlers Scheifele Wheeler
Appleton Little Connor
Copp Lowry Tanev
Vesalainen Lindholm Roslovic

Morrissey Byfuglien
Niku Chiarot
Beaulieu Samberg?

Hellebuyck Brossoit

This line-up without Laine, Trouba, Perreault, Kulikov and no extras comes out to about 65M$, leaving less than $20M available and a lot of tinkering needed. Defense seems weak, which means they might favor keeping Trouba.

What do you think happens?

Laine I don't know what to tell you.
Some at our board were saying he is kinda 4th line player otherwise, with generational quality shot.
That might be a tad cruel, but it is not entirely not apt.
Zero def and Schief drives that club [kudos to him]
Probably keep and try to develop his game further.
If you get crazy offer or he makes crazy $ demand, take what you can get.

Trouba, many think he wants out asap to expedite UFA and to be with his woman, who last look has medical career in FL. That impacts value if you keep him or move him. Fortunately, both Bolts and Panthers want to get the show on the road now, so you can still fetch a favorable offer if you act now.

our friend @ThePatientPanther is usually good for comments as to FL, I'd give him 24 hours to come up with a serious prop.

Rest of the roster, like most everyone, I guess, is a work in progress.

If Trouba is interested in signing long term with said teams, They can just wait and sign him for free on July 1st 2020 and not give up assets for him. All indications are the he's heading for UFA next summer.

You do understand that Trouba's fiancee Kelly Tyson is just going to Medical School there in Ft Lauderdale? This medical career in FL is a little premature she's attending classes not working to become a doctor. Maybe here in Florida maybe elsewhere only she knows for sure.
