I'll tell you what, Smith has had a pretty damned good game as well.

Smith has always caught grief on this board because not enough people watch him play and watch his stat line. Mind you, he got on the board tonight a couple times but he has always looked much better than his stat line looks when you watch him. He controls the puck in the corners, is scared of no one, finishes his checks, provides a good net front presence and has a bit of a scoring touch. When you hear management talk about him hes held in much higher regard than what he is on here. The fact he was voted outside of the top 20 wings prospects on this board show how off some peoples evaluations are.

Smith and Pearson have a ton of NHL depth qualities. They aren't guys you go nuts over but they are pretty good at a lot of things. Still need to keep developing though.

This was the first I've watched much of Pearson. He seems like a guy that could for sure be a good NHL depth guy. Score the odd goal, he didnt play tough but he played hard, is a solid two way player and skates well. I could see him at some point becoming a solid 3rd line center for sure.

That's actually a stacked forward group. Looks almost like a majority are in the NHL today, and a few others got good looks in the NHL.

Considering less than half the 2nd round picks actually make the NHL that is an interesting stance...

https://www.tsn.ca/playing-the-percentages-in-the-nhl-draft-1.206144
True that the stats are against 2nd round picks in general, I would still consider any player picked in the round a bust if they don't contribute to the team in a meaningful way.

The reason why I hated the Smith pick is because the 2016 draft was fairly deep in D, Girard, Lindgren, Clague, and Hronek were all picked after Givani. If this team had Girard, we'd be all set on D. Also, Givani was projected to go 3rd or 4th round, so it was a reach pick with less than impressive draft year stats. Picking a prospect in the 2nd round just because he's physical seems like a bad strategy.

Like I said, if he puts up points in the NHL, I will literally go eat crow. Crow season overlaps with duck season where I live, and I'm a man of my word.

It doesn't matter does Givani Smith score points or not. He looked like a very polished role player on that tournament. Points will come, if will be put on a productive line. I don't think he has been yet on that kind of line at Griffins. But it looks like he has all the tools be great as our new Abdelkader/Bertuzzi/Cleary/ -type of player.

- 1st PP net-front precence, did that job pretty well
- Killed penalties
- Played physically, agitated, but it didn't go out of hands
- Was used on last minute to protect the lead.

Don't also see any problem at his temper anymore, it's kind of directed to only good things. Ready to fight yeah, but does not hurt the team anyhow.

Who's this Lucky Sid Vicious guy? He seems to be in on a lot of points, but I don't remember ever hearing of him.

Especially if he can effectively replace Capitaltater's presence and be younger and cheaper while doing it.

They have wrong stats, again. Tried to sell that Lindström-goal to Morgan etc etc. It has always been this same mess in Traverse City. Anybody can look those better from the stream, when just multi-replaying the goals.
@Henkka how do these stats compare to your final stats? (I'm mainly care about the G,A,Pts & if you have it +/-) Thanks.

Didn't collect plusminus. But I have many different assists.

Like That Dellandrea goal... Zadina had puck control and did pass the puck as a giveaway for him, and that had 2 Dallas assistants. That kind of goal is unassisted.

Veleno, 7+1 = 8
Kuffner, 3+5 = 8
Pearson, 4+3 = 7
Smith, 3+4 = 7
Seider, 0+7 = 7 (one Seider 2nd assist is debatable could Hirose touched it after him or the Veleno--> Smith tournament break-away GWG)
Hirose, 1+4 = 5
MacLeod, 1+4 =5
Zadina, 0+5 = 5
Lukosevicius, 2+2 = 4
D'Astous, 0+4 = 4
Loggins, 2+0 = 2
Lindström, 1+0 = 1
Söderblom, 0+1 = 1
Regula, 0+1 = 1
Bizier, 0+1 = 1

where do you think would have been an appropriate spot for a forward that just got outscored by Brian Lashoff on the same team to have gone?
