Amazing deal for FLA with Forsling; he’s a criminally underrated top pair D. With Hanifin and Forsling off the market, I’d take a strong look at Parayko.

It’s easy to sit back and nitpick his contract, age, etc. but what are the available alternatives now-next 12 months?

For instance, Parayko vs Pesce this summer. Pesce, same age, could potentially get more money over a 7 year term this summer. He’s taken a noticeable step back in skating and has a play style that will age poorly. Do we want to bet on Skjei, another American, make it to market and potentially not even have interest signing here?

Parayko is a bonafide top 4 RHD, signed long-term, with size/defensive impact and stylistic fit for Rielly. Beggars can’t be choosers.

The only reason we can theoretically afford him is because of the negatives RE his contract, age, minor decline in play. A better option without those issues is not attainable without moving a core piece given our lack of futures and untouchables.
