I think Tallinder is on his way out. Especially with the interview he gave to TG this morning. As someone said the other day, he's the odd man out.

Greene, and Fayne are the shutdown guys (Despite being broken up)
Volchenkov is the PK specialist
Zidlicky is the PP specialist
Salvador is the captain
Larsson really shouldn't have to sit, and be the odd man out.

It doesn't shock me if Tallinder is on the way out, but what's the holdup in trading him if that were the case? He doesn't have a NTC iirc and it ain't helping his value to be a healthy scratch.

Tarasenko`s game is better suited for the NHL though

That's what people tend to say. To me Kuznetsov's a very intelligent, mature person for a 20 years old kid. I believe his smartness is going to be an advantage all along his career. I like him a lot, but we'll see.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tallinder in next game, and Larsson sat again. Only to keep him from plunging as a healthy scratch.

All in all I can't see him sitting killing his value too much. It's not like he's being sat for Peter Harrold or a borderline AHL call up player.

Tallinder really is the odd one out. Deboer likes Volchenkov's skillset and you can't sit Salvador. Greene and Fayne shouldn't be sitting for anyone and they're both equal to or better than Tallinder, and then there's Zidlicky who fills a need that no one else can. Then there's Larsson who's probably about equal to Tallinder right now. No room.

DeBoer, or better to say Lou, "likes" Volchenkov`s NTC more than his current style of play, trust me.

meh NTC are largely meaningless IMO. especially compared to NMC. a NTC basically means he picks where he wants to go

No I don't. Volchenkov is your PK specialist and last time the Devils won a game, they killed 7 PP in a row. I'm sure Peter Deboer is glad to have Anton around here.

If that`s the argument they use, both Fayne and Larsson should feel criminally underrated in that departement.

Which can be a problem when you have limited options. Some people act like 29 teams are ideal trade partners for the Devils.

In reality, the list must be very short.

Volchenkov's contract itself is far more of a NTC than the actual NTC :P

That wasn't my point. If something wasn't imminent, why scratch Tallinder now? It's not like his value's going to be helped by sitting. And if Tallinder isn't the odd man out then why is he sitting?

The thing about Kuznetsov is that he's very publicly considered never wanting to come to North America, and there's rumors that KHL teams will grossly overpay for him to stay in Russia. Guys like Tarasenko want to come over and play in North America, but some people legitimately think Kuznetsov would prefer staying home, especially if he was offered more money than he would ever make on an ELC.

Read my article, it`s in the previous thread. From what I know about him, he`s being honest. Will they try to keep him? Of course, who wouldn`t. But that`s just one part of the story. And don`t get me started on Russian media. Especially after what we`ve witnessed this year with Kovy.

Pete had him in Florida I think. He always praised him too, so maybe he'd put in a good word?

I was under the impression that the Blues were happy with Tarasenko developing in the KHL while Kuznetsov plays there to the dismay of the Caps.

Kuznetsov is very, very good and I'd trade for him in a heartbeat because I truly think he'd come over.

But there's no way we have the pieces to make it work.
