Theres 2 holes basically on forward (at a minimum). 1/2RW and 3C/4C.

Due to cap, team can probably only run 13F.

Wonder if they will keep a spot for Lavoie (needs waivers) or if they sign 3F and make him earn a spot.
It’ll be a boring day for the Oilers, especially if Brown signs early. Just be waiting on whatever 4C is willing to sign a 1M x1 contract.

Honestly boring is probably good on this day. Worse decisions occur on this day. (But I hope we have solid signings).

Good job by Holland to get rid of Yamo knowing he couldn't sign Kostin, but damn ... I am expecting 40-50 points out of Kostin next year. At that price and knowing the type of guy he is in the room, it's unfortunate.

Let us hope we get some solid players for dirt cheap today.

Agree Geekie i like but with most of our line up set our 4th line pickups need to have some scapability.

That said if we miss on Brown then guys like Sprong, ect may be a possibility

Holloway - Cloud - Foegele
Janmark - XXX - Ryan ( can move throughout)

No to Sprong. Depends if its a one year deal.

I would put Ryan as a 4C and find a better 3rd liner. I would

Hyman McDavid Brown
Kane Nuge Draisaitl
Rodriguez McLeod Fogele
Holloway Ryan Janmark

Campbell traded, full cap for a meatball.
E Karlsson required 50% retained for a zillion assets, incl Broberg + Lavoie+ 1st 2024. 2nd 2026

Ekholm Bouchard
Nurse E Karlsson
Kulak VD

Skinner

Geekie strikes me as being a prime candidate to figure out that his destiny is to be a defensive specialist. I like him as a right handed C option.

One issue with that was that he was given easy minutes in seattle. I hope he can continue to develop into one but he shouldnt be thrown into hard competition off the bat.

Don't let us down Holland, the draft was a let down in terms of moves, we need and more importantly the players need to feel like you are improving the team so that we can take that next step for the first time in 30+ years. Go out there, kick some ass and this time next year let all of us be basking in the glory of winning hockey's holy grail.
He's not going to do much Bryan, don't get your hopes up.

Trade deadline could be a different story but this offseason is not our time. Brown and Blueger or Bjugstad would be a good day.

My primary concern is that the Oilers may be unwilling to commit too much salary to UFAs because of the worry that they would make themselves more vulnerable to a Bouchard offer sheet.
Non-starter. Holland said both he and Bouchard’s agent are cool with a bridge deal. Takes a player to sign an offer sheet. Would be foolish from the players perspective to limit himself to offers in a flat cap year when he can really cash out in a year or two when the cap shoots up.

Looking for some good low cost options to sign with the Oilers so we don’t have to run with a short roster all year and good enough for Woodcroft to stop 11-7 and overloading the top 6 with so many minutes they’re banged up in the postseason

The Kostin deal is not great news for the Oilers. If McLeod uses it as a comparable in arbitration it would be hard to argue against it.
